‘Southern Charm’: Naomie Olindo Says No to Group Trip With Craig Conover
Season 6 of Southern Charm has already been rife with romantic ups and downs. Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel continue to duke it out in court, Dennis finds a new boyfriend, and Craig Conover struggled with losing Naomie Olindo. It seems clear to Southern Charm fans that Craig Conover just isn’t over Naomie Olindo yet. The couple split over a year ago, and while Olindo has moved on with her new boyfriend, Metul Shah, Conover still seems to have plenty of unresolved feelings about their relationship and how it ended.
That’s why, when a group trip to Colorado was brought up at Cameran Eubanks’ birthday party, Naomie Olindo said she might not be so sure about going.
Why did the ‘Southern Charm’ pair split?
Craig Conover and Naomie Olindo had been together for a while — so what prompted the Southern Charm couple to call it quits? When it first happened, some fans thought that Olindo might have disliked Conover’s interest in sewing. Perhaps interest is too gentle a term, obsession might be more accurate. Olindo was eager to put those comments to bed.
Naomie told The Daily Dish, “People think, ‘Oh, why can’t you support his sewing?’ It had nothing to do with me not wanting a boyfriend who sews. I don’t care at all about that. Hobbies are important, and I thought it was great.”
Olindo went on to say that the issue had less to do with the hobby itself, and more to do with how Conover approached it. “The reason I had a problem with it was Craig is a procrastinator, and he was using sewing as a way to procrastinate doing things that he actually needed to do, you know, important things. … Instead of doing something that he had a deadline on or whatever, he’d just sit and sew all night, not the actual fact that he sewed,” said Olindo.
Craig says he’s still in love
During Cameran Eubanks’ birthday party, Craig Conover clearly had his fair share of booze. The Southern Charm star was seen drinking straight out of a bottle of Fireball before discussing how he feels about Naomie Olindo.
At one point, Eubanks asks Conover if he’s still in love with Olindo. Conover replies, “I love her and hate her at the same time. We thought we were going to get married. Of course, I loved her.”
According to Conover, he never got the closure he needed in their breakup. “We can’t be around each other because we never f***ing closed anything,” said Conover. “That’s why we can’t be a foot away from each other without her f***ing darting out the door. It’s easier for her to act like it never happened.”
Naomie doesn’t want to go
Meanwhile, Naomie Olindo was looking distinctly uncomfortable with the idea of the trip, and she made her feelings clear. “I don’t want to go,” said Olindo to Eubanks. “Why would I go on a trip with my ex-boyfriend? I don’t want to go because I don’t even want to have to tell Metul.”
Olindo is clearly aware the Conover is hanging onto some feelings left over from their breakup. “Where I am with stuff with Craig is a totally different place than where I think where Craig is,” said Olindo.
Meanwhile, Conover seems to think Olindo is missing out. In a confessional interview, he said, “It’s just terrifying to think that she might have cost herself one of the best things that ever happened to her for no reason,” he says. “That’s how I feel.”
