Olindo included a heartbreaking photo holding her father’s hand, clearly devastated. Olindo’s father, Joel was often seen on Southern Charm alongside her mother. In 2018, Joel suffered a heart attack, which Olindo shared on Instagram. She told boyfriend Metul Shah about a dream she had that she was having a heart attack. But only woke to learn her father had a heart attack. She shared he had warning signs leading up to the incident and ultimately changed his lifestyle, dropping 40 pounds.

However, he then faced esophageal cancer, fighting for the past year, she shared. Her Southern Charm and Bravo friends are sharing words of condolence as she mourns his passing.

The family fought privately

Late last month, Olindo shared a family photo of a happier time. “This time last year ,” she wrote. Then only a week ago, she added a sweet throwback photo with her dad. “My guy ☀️.” Friend and Southern Charm cast member Chelsea Meissner responded with a prayer emoji.

But today Olindo broke the heartwrenching news. “I lost a piece of my heart last Friday,” she began her post. “After privately fighting esophageal cancer for 12 excruciating months, my dad lost the only fight he’s ever lost. He died peacefully surrounded by people that loved him more than words can explain.”

She was heartbroken before she lost her father. “I missed him before he was even gone, and I can’t imagine what this road will be like. If someone you love is fighting this horrible disease, please know my heart is with you and it truly aches for you. There aren’t really words for this pain but I’m very thankful for the kindness and love our friends and family have shown my mom and me during the most difficult time of our life.”

She receives an outpouring of support

The family plans to memorialize Joel this upcoming weekend. “A wake will be held in Joel’s honor on Saturday 1/4 at Nico from 11-1,” she continued with her post. “If he impacted your life in a tiny way or in a big way, we would love to see you there to celebrate my dad, the most amazing person I have ever known .”

Olindo’s post is filled with messages of love and support. “So sorry to hear this. Best to you and your family,” Shep Rose wrote. Cameran Eubanks wrote, “Can’t imagine your hurt. A beautiful soul and precious man. I’m so, so sorry.”
