‘Southern Charm’ Star Thomas Ravenel Lashes Out on Social Media, Fat Shames Female Fan on Twitter
Turns out disgraced Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel has not learned his lesson. After narrowly escaping jail time for sexually assaulting his children’s former nanny, Ravenel found himself in the hot seat yet again for lashing out on social media. Only this time, the disreputable reality star fat-shamed a female fan who tried to give him some sound advice.
Ravenel defends himself on Twitter
The controversy started after Thomas Ravenel took to Twitter to defend himself against all of the alleged fake news stories that have been circulating about him. You know, the ones that talk about his sexual assault charges (to which he pleaded guilty), how he was once addicted to drugs, and how he shamed his baby mama, Kathryn Dennis, to get custody of their children.
As far as Ravenel is concerned, all of these stories are fraught with lies. And he wanted to make sure all of his followers know about it.
“It’s amazing the fiction I read about myself from supposedly credible sources especially when the correct info is public information unsealed and recorded in family court. #people #radar #bravo #foxnews In other news, aliens just invaded the White House #zerocredibility,” Ravenel shared.
Thomas Ravenel has taken a lot of heat in recent months, yet some of his followers wholeheartedly agreed with his comments. But the drama really heated up when one user suggested that he might want to examine his choices a little better and “rethink who is crazy.”
According to Reality Tea, the fan added that Ravenel should focus more on being a good father and treating Dennis better, rather than defending his poor decisions on a private Twitter account.
Given his track record, it is not surprising that Ravenel lashed out instead of taking a moment for some self-reflection.
“Rather than stalk me it’d probably be healthier to stalk Jenny Craig. Obesity is a killer. Just FYI,” he responded.
It’s a good thing that Ravenel is no longer a part of Southern Charm because Bravo execs would not have enjoyed reading those comments.
Inside Thomas Ravenel’s sexual assault scandal
While Ravenel braces for more backlash, he recently enjoyed a huge victory in court. The former Southern Charm star reached a plea deal with the women who claimed he raped her while she was watching his kids.
Ravenel pleaded guilty to the charges, which included third-degree assault and battery, in exchange for a 30-day sentence and a $500 fine. The sentence, of course, was suspended and Ravenel was given probation instead.
He also agreed to dish out $125,000 as part of a civil settlement with the nanny. A large portion of the settlement, $80,000 to be exact, will go towards a charity that helps women who are victims of sexual assault.
The rest of the settlement will help pay the nanny’s legal fees, which amounted to around $45,000.
Ravenel was fired from Southern Charm in the wake of his sexual assault scandal and will not be appearing on the series anytime soon.
Ravenel apologies for his actions
When she first came forward with the rape accusations, the nanny claimed that Thomas Ravenel aggressively tried to rape her inside his own home. Although Ravenel pleaded guilty to the charges, he remains adamant that he only tried to kiss her on that fateful night.
Following the plea deal, the nanny released a statement acknowledging that their accounts differ. She also revealed that she has accepted Ravenel’s apology and believes that he did not intentionally try to assault her.
For his part, Ravenel also released a statement apologizing for his actions. He claims that he never tried to sexually assault her and that he is sorry about making unwelcome advances towards her.
Thomas Ravenel closed by apologizing for causing undue stress on the nanny.
Court documents also revealed that Ravenel’s former girlfriend, Dennis, played a big part in convincing the nanny to come forward.
In 2018, the nanny read stories about Ravenel’s questionable behavior towards other women and went to Dennis for advice. It was then that she realized that Ravenel’s behavior could be considered sexual assault and she immediately went to the police with her story.
Dennis, unfortunately, has not commented on the recent developments regarding Ravenel’s sexual assault scandal.
This year, Dennis and Thomas Ravenel fought an intense custody battle over their two children: St. Julien and Kensington.
Bravo has not revealed when the new season of Southern Charm will premiere.
