Spencer Pratt Says This Celebrity Romance Might Appear On ‘The Hills: Season 2’

Fans of MTV’s reality show, The Hills, had much to celebrate when the show re-booted after nine years off the air. Two of the show’s more outspoken stars, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, think viewers could be in for a celebrity sighting in season 2.

What is Spencer Pratt’s role in ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’?

To sum up a season’s worth of California drama would be impossible. The original version followed “Laguna Beach” alumna, Lauren Conrad, after high school graduation when she took a job at Teen Vogue and moved to Los Angeles.

The reboot’s version is sort of the same, following most of the core group’s lives into adulthood. Aside from Pratt and Montag, the cast includes Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Brody Jenner, Kaitlynn Carter, Stephanie Pratt, Justin Bresica, Frankie Delgado, Brandon Lee, and Micha Barton (with supporting cast members, Jason, and Ashley Wahler).

Pratt and Montag, who are parents to a son, Gunner, played integral parts in much of the show’s storyline. Having been married on The Hills back in 2008 (it aired in 2009), the couple’s no stranger to the drama. At times, they’ve been the center of it.

Pratt’s not been shy with his opinions on any cast member. He and on-again-off-again friend, Jenner, had a few quarrels, while Pratt and his sister (Stephanie), also had their fair share of incidents.

By the end of season 1, Pratt and Montag renewed their vows with the entire cast present. This is only after Jenner and Carter threatened to leave after rumors of an “open relationship” became the subject of house gossip.

That said, Pratt hinted a second season could reveal a new romance not yet caught on The Hills‘s cameras.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have a long history with the show

In 2009, USA Today deemed Pratt and Montag the third most popular couple in the country. They’re not beloved by all, and, at times, considered the “villains” of the show.

The two met in 2007 while filming in a club. Pratt had apparently been trying to get on the show. Montag told Vice she knew he was “the one” when they met. “I pretty much told everyone I was going to marry him and that I loved him, she said. “[Everyone] thought I was crazy.”

Their love was enough for Montag to end her longtime friendship with a former star of The Hills, Lauren Conrad (who openly protested the union). MTV cameras caught the 2007 proposal, which happened on the beach.

Montag later admitted he proposed with a promise ring she’d bought and paid for. Pratt previously told Cosmopolitan, “Yeah, I said, ‘Take this promise ring,’ and they clipped that out.”

They eventually eloped and married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, but filmed a traditional wedding scene for an episode of The Hills.

Over the years, Pratt and Montag had money troubles (losing reported millions), Montag’s struggles post-plastic surgery, and reality TV moments. They even separated, Montag filed for divorce, and Pratt announced the marriage was “fake.” Um, what?

A few months later, they reconciled, renewed their vows, said their marriage was fake again and appeared on more reality shows. Needless to say, The Hills: New Beginnings might not be what it is without the contributions of “Speidi.”

Which celebrity couple does Spencer Pratt say might appear on season 2?

Because news of Carter’s relationship with Miley Cyrus broke around the finale’s filming, questions have arisen as to whether any of that will appear on TV. Pratt and Montag spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the Marriage Boot Camp 100th Episode Celebration (which they also starred on) about it.

“Did that happen before the end of season one? Who knows, right?” Montag teased. “Maybe it was going on during, secretive. You never know. Some people are very secretive.”

Pratt added, “It’s amazing. I love it all.”

Though it’s unclear if Carter and Cyrus will be highlighted on the season 2 premiere (or at least the breakup between she and Jenner), Pratt was asked who he’d like to see on set.

“Definitely Cody Simpson,” he replied, admitting he’s been “manifesting” the idea into existence.

Pratt previously questioned Carter and Cyrus’s relationship saying it may not have been real.

“So we know they were actually together at one time? Ever?” he said. “I mean I’m just saying, I don’t believe anything…. It seemed very suspicious to me.”

Whether season 2 shows Carter and Cyrus or Cyrus and Simpson remains to be seen. If so, you can thank Pratt for the manifestation.

The Hills: New Beginnings Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
