Holland got his start on the London stage and worked hard for many years before he got his big break in Hollywood. He was born and raised in London, to a photographer mother and a comedian father. Holland, along with his three brothers, all showed an interest in the arts, and during his middle school years, Holland discovered that he had a talent for dancing.

He attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, and following the completion of his studies there, began performing with a hip-hop dance company. He was spotted by a talent scout for musical theater, and almost instantly was recruited to perform in the popular stage show Billy Elliot the Musical. Over the next several years, Holland would find great success playing the character of Billy Elliot, and toured with the play numerous times, receiving critical acclaim. In 2008, Holland made his first TV appearance on the show The Feel Good Factor. Audiences took notice of Holland’s charm and appealing personality, and Hollywood came calling.

In 2012, Holland appeared opposite Ewan McGregor in the disaster film The Impossible. Holland received positive reviews for his work and even won the London Film Critics Circle Award for Young British Performer of the Year. Currently, Holland is only 22 years of age. He made his first appearance as the character in the hit film Captain America: Civil War. 2017 brought the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming and the film was received extraordinarily well by both critics and fans. Many fans even called Holland the best onscreen Spider-Man yet and praised his youthful energy and comedic timing. 

What’s next for Tom Holland?

Tom Holland reprised his role as Peter Parker in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, and is due to appear in three more Marvel films in order to fulfill his six-movie contract. Next up is the highly-anticipated Avengers: Endgame, set to be released at the end of April 2019. Of course, Holland will also be taking the lead in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is being released in July 2019. The newest installment in the web slinger’s series will likely challenge Holland even more, placing his character in unique, tense situations.

In addition to his Marvel projects, Holland also makes time for other films that are important to him. He will be lending his voice to the upcoming Pixar production Onward, as well as acting in The Devil All the Time, a horror film that takes place in a timeline ranging from World War II to the 1960s. With his natural acting talent, energetic charm, and ambition, Holland has proven that he has what it takes to succeed, even though he’s still very young.
