‘Star Wars’: Mark Hamill Reveals He Made Out with Carrie Fisher

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher became iconic stars after the success of Star Wars. Their characters’ relationships changed throughout the trilogy. In the beginning, there was even a possibility of a Luke and Leia romance until the reveal of them being related.

Apparently, the relationship behind the scenes of the movies between the actors was also a little complicated. Now the actors have opened up about their Star Wars secrets after all these years. Fisher previously wrote about one affair she had with a co-star. But now another co-star has revealed a flirtatious moment he had with the leading lady.

So what really went on between the leading cast? Here are seven things to know, including when Hamill says he made out with Fisher (page 5) and what happened next.

1. Fisher once revealed she had an affair with Ford

Fisher revealed in her memoir, The Princess Diarist, that she had an affair with Ford while they were working on Star Wars: A New Hope and said, “It was so intense. At the time, she was 19 years old and Ford was 33 years old. The whole thing started after a birthday party for George Lucas.

“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend,” Fisher told People. She then continued, “I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him” and “he was kind.”

2. Fisher said she warned Ford she would write about their affair

This reveal didn’t come as a total surprise. “I told him I found the diaries, which I had not seen since I’d written them and that I was gonna publish them,” she told the Rolling Stone. “He just said, ‘lawyer.’ I told him he could take out anything he didn’t like. I sent it to him, but he never commented. I guess he didn’t loathe anything.”

3. She said she couldn’t joke about the affair with Ford

When asked if she wished she had the affair with Hamill instead she answered, “NO! No. But I suppose I would have been able to laugh about it with him. That’s not something I can do with Harrison, though ‘lawyer’ was pretty funny. At least it acknowledged that it existed.”

4. Ford said it was strange to have the affair revealed

When Fisher revealed they had an affair while working together, Ford said, “It was strange. For me.” He said his co-star did let him know she was writing about it beforehand.

When asked if he read the memoir, he said “No. I didn’t.”

5. Hamill said he and Fisher’s make out started like this

The Luke Skywalker actor said he was bragging about his kissing skills to Fisher when it took a turn. “I said: ‘Well, I think I’m a fairly good kisser. I like to let the women come to me rather than be aggressive.’ And she said: ‘What do you mean?’ Well, next thing you know we’re making out like teenagers!” he told The Guardian.

6. Their relationship wasn’t otherwise romantic

Their makeout didn’t really lead anywhere for a reason. “Carrie and I were attracted to one another, but I knew from previous jobs that it would have been a bad idea,” said Hamill.

He also added,”If I’d had a relationship with her, it would have been like a full-time activity because she was too much for me in every regard: she was too creative, she was too smart. She was just the best.”

Next: This is why Hamill said making out with Fisher was a good thing.

7. Hamill said the makeout helped get it all out of their system

But it seems like the one kissing session did help their professional relationship. Hamill said it helped get things “out of our system” and “we became like real siblings over the years.”
