Star Wars Releases New Clip from ‘The Rise of Skywalker,’ Featuring Rey, Poe, and a Few Flying Stormtroopers

It’s the end of an era. Now, the battle with the First Order is Rey’s fight to win or to lose. So far, it doesn’t look easy. Star Wars released a new clip from their upcoming feature film. In it, there are a few surprises, including flying stormtroopers. Here’s what fans are saying about this new look at the movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ premieres in theaters on Dec. 20, 2019

We have so many questions about the final movie in this Star Wars sequel trilogy. Will Rey turn to the dark side? Will Ben Solo help the resistance? How is Darth Sidious still alive? Not much is known about the plot of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as there are still a few weeks before the premiere of this movie.

Fans can learn a little more from exclusive clips and teasers. Fortunately, Star Wars and Disney released a clip that puts viewers right in the middle of the Rise of Skywalker action.

Lucasfilm and Disney periodically released teasers of the movie, including one from the D23 Expo

The pieces are starting to come together — barely. In the official teaser, fans learned that Darth Sidious would return for this final movie. Thanks to the special look from Disney’s D23 Expo, fans saw Rey sporting a double-sided red lightsaber. The final trailer for the movie showed Rey fighting Kylo Ren and even coming face-to-face with Darth Sidious.

On Nov. 25, Star Wars shared a new clip of the film on YouTube, entitled “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Film Clip.” Within a few minutes, it earned thousands of views, mostly from fans sharing their excitement for this upcoming film.

“But why is nobody talking about just how cool those flying stormtroopers are, though,” one Twitter user said, sharing the movie clip.

“Star Wars still features the most creative and well shot big-budget action setpieces,” wrote another Twitter user. “Look fun!”

Star Wars released a clip from the movie featuring flying stormtroopers

During this new Star Wars clip, fans saw the Resistance together, trying to escape the clutches of some stormtroopers. The biggest surprise was that the stormtroopers could fly now. That can’t be a good sign for our protagonists.

Another piece of this trailer showed Rey and Poe finally working together — the two met for the first time at the end of The Last Jedi. Although not much else is known about this upcoming Star Wars movie, fans are excited to see the last film in the sequel trilogy.

The Rise of Skywalker premieres in theaters on Dec. 20, 2019. Until then, fans can watch other Star Wars-related movies and television shows, including The Mandalorian, on Disney’s streaming platform, entitled Disney+.
