What Star Wars movies can you stream right now on Disney+?

When Disney+ launched on Nov. 12, 2019, Star Wars fans were happy to see most of their favorite movies already available. The original trilogy is one click away with Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

The Prequel trilogy is also currently available for your binge-watching pleasure. You can stream Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

However, from the sequel trilogy, there is only one movie available: Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is also ready to stream right to your television or device. All of the movies are in 4K with Dolby Vision and Atmos support for crystal-clear quality.

What Star Wars movies are currently missing from Disney+?

The remaining movies that Disney+ needs to add to the subscription service are Solo: A Star Wars Story and the last two films of the sequel trilogy.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is launching Disney+ on Dec. 26, 2019. So, after fans catch Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters, they can go home and watch the previous movie. Viewers could also choose to wait for The Last Jedi to stream as a refresher before going to the theater.

As for Solo, fans still have quite a while to wait. The movie about Han Solo (Harrison Ford) is slotted to drop to Disney+ on July 9, 2020.

When will ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ be available on Disney+?

Most Disney movies follow the same timeline for their release in theaters, DVD/BluRay, and then to streaming services. The Marvel movies and those in the Star Wars saga begin with a 90-day release in theaters.

The Rise of Skywalker began its cinematic run on Dec. 19, 2019, and will come to a close around the end of March 2020. A few weeks later, Episode IX will come to DVD, BluRay, and other home entertainment platforms.

The company will give consumers a chance to purchase the DVD/BluRay format for roughly two to four months. We can get somewhat of an idea from the previous movie release when to expect The Rise of Skywalker.

The Last Jedi premiered in theaters on Dec. 14, 2017. The movie had their DVD/BluRay release on Apr. 9, 2018, and then it came to Netflix at the end of June.

We could see Episode IV streaming at some point between June and August 2020. We will receive an exact release date from Disney+ in 2020 sometime. For the next three months, your best bet for seeing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is to head to the theaters.
