Welcome to our weekly Star Wars roundup! With Disney ramping up the franchise on all cylinders, there’s tons of exciting stuff in the way of news, rumors, and clips. We’ve picked out the best Star Wars stories the Internet has to offer, bringing you everything you need to know about the world’s favorite sci-fi series.
1. Star Wars goes toe-to-toe with Star Trek in museum exhibit
The debate has long raged between fandoms: Star Trek or Star Wars? Both sides have a strong case to make. For Trekkies, they have a cerebral, thinking-man’s sci-fi. On the other side of the aisle, fans of Star Wars have an vast, expansive universe built with decidedly more fantastical elements. One ambitious curator at the Tech Garden in Syracuse, N.Y. sought to answer that question, building out a full-on exhibit appropriately titled “Star Trek vs. Star Wars: A Logical Choice.” The curator himself is an avid Star Trek fan, with the exhibit running until Friday, April 8.
2. LEGO Star Wars gives us a gameplay trailer full of Force Awakens hints
Many fans of the vast array of Star Wars video games were relatively disappointed to learn that the new Battlefront game would focus solely on the original trilogy. Thanks to the upcoming LEGO Star Wars game though, we’ll get to see The Force Awakens in a whole different way. This alternative to the main series of games will feature exclusive details concerning the story behind Max von Sydow’s Lor San Tekka, how Han and Chewie captured the Rathtars on their freighter, and tons more. The game doesn’t release until June, so for now, the above gameplay trailer will have to suffice.
3. Will a young Han Solo be appearing in Rogue One?
Even without anything in the way of a trailer, we have plenty of details about Rogue One, the first Anthology movie from Disney/Lucasfilm. The latest news from the set comes hot on the heels of the studio narrowing down its casting of a young Han Solo to three actors: That casting is finally heating up with the hope of having the chosen actor play the role for a brief Rogue One cameo. According to Making Star Wars, the movie “pretty much has Han Solo playing a BoShek type that simply refers the rebels to people to hire.” If anything, it’ll be interesting to see the iconic character portrayed by a different actor for the first time in Star Wars history.
4. Battlefront launches its Outer Rim DLC
Speaking of Star Wars video games, the LEGO universe isn’t the only one pushing boundaries right now. Just this week, EA released the first of four planned DLC packages to Season Pass holders. Set in the Outer Rim of Tatooine, you can play with heroes like Greedo and Nien Nunb, and unlock new weapons and Star Cards by completing a series of Hutt Contracts. An overwhelming majority of the feedback has been positive in the wake of the release. If this is any indicator of what the Bespin and Death Star DLCs will be like, then Battlefront could set itself apart as the most expansive game the franchise has ever given us.
