‘Stranger Things’: The Wage Gap Between This One Star and the Rest of the Cast is Insane

Stranger Things has become a cult sensation. Its strange mix of nostalgia and suspense has hit audiences right in the heart. Now, three seasons later, the show is still a success with no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Over the years, the cast has grown. So naturally, the newcomers have a lower salary than some of the older characters, as well as the minor characters understandably get paid less than the major characters.

But what most people don’t expect is the huge wage gap between the kids on the show.

So how much do the actors make?

Winona Ryder and David Harbour

Ryder and Harbour play the resident adults in the series, Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper. While the focus of the show is on the kids, both Joyce and Hopper move the story along and help solve whatever issue is going on from season to season.

They both also have the longest credential sheets of projects that they have been a part of. Harbour has been in Brokeback Mountain, Suicide Squad, Black Widow, Quantum of Solace, The Equalizer, The Green Hornet, and more.

Ryder has also been in a long string of hit movies since the eighties. She is most known for her roles in Beetlejuice, Girl, Interrupted, Heathers, and Reality Bites. But Ryder was also in several other projects, including Edward Scissorhands, Friends, Star Trek, Mermaids, Mr. Deeds, and more.

Due to these factors, both Harbour and Ryder earn $350,000 per episode of the Netflix show.

This is a huge salary increase for both stars. For season one of the show, Harbour earned $80,000 per episode and Ryder earned $100,000 per episode.

This brings Ryder’s net worth to $18 million and Harbour’s to $4 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

The kids

Most of the rest of the characters on the show earn the same amount. Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Noah Schnapp, who play Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, and Will Byers, respectively, all earn $250,000 per episode.

The newer characters, Max Mayfield and Billy Hargrove, played by Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery only make $150,000 per episode.

This is a huge increase for these actors, as most of them made around $30,000 an episode for the first two seasons, according to Deadline.

Millie Bobby Brown

The most surprising paycheck in the cast is that of Millie Bobby Brown. Though she is part of the kid gang, she outearns all of them by $100,000 an episode. She makes the same amount as her adult counterparts, Ryder and Harbour, earning $350,000 per episode.

Stranger Things isn’t Brown’s first foray into acting. She has also been on Modern Family, Godzilla vs. Kong, NCIS, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Intruders, Spheres, and more.

Depending on how well season three of the show does, Brown may even get another raise. If that happens, we would only guess that the rest of the cast would also be in line for a pay increase, as well.
