Aside from the Mind Flayer wreaking havoc on the town of Hawkins and a few fan-favorite characters (cough cough Jim Hopper) being dealt an unfair hand, many of us still have a ton of questions regarding the season finale.
One of those questions happens to be what is in store for the Hawkins kids in the upcoming season?
With so many fans wondering what is set to take place in Season 4, a ton of theories have been coming to light and some of them might actually have a possibility of happening.
Fans think that Eleven might be the villain of Season 4
It is no question that Stranger Things has had its fair share of villains these past three seasons.
While most of the Hawkins villains having come as a surprise in the past, fans already have a theory as to who will take on the role in Season 4.
After experiencing the insane events that took place in the final episode of Season 3, a Reddit user is now theorizing that season 4’s villain might actually be a fan favorite this time around.
According to the user weedmoney666, they believe that Eleven is going to be the villain in the upcoming season and actually made some valid points supporting their theory.
Now we know this might sound a little far-fetched but it actually is a possibility if we go back into the season.
In the Season 3 finale, many might remember when the Mind Flayer grabbed El by her ankle before she ends up being saved by her friends.
However, part of the Mind Flayer’s flesh remained in El’s leg until Mike pulls it out, causing her to scream in pain.
Because Eleven was technically “bit” by The Mind Flayer, she was, in turn, infected, which has caused others to be controlled by the monster in the past.
In Season 1, Will gets infected by the Mind Flayer and works as a spy for the monsters by giving them the whereabouts of the kids.
At the beginning of Season 3, Billy gets infected and brings other people to The Mind Flayer so that it can build an army and terrorize the town of Hawkins.
Whether or not this theory is true, there is a great possibility The Mind Flayer now has an effect on El since she realized her telepathic powers are now gone.
This could mean that the Upside-Down is still open
Not only are fans convinced that Eleven will be the villain of Season 4, but they are also certain that her taking on this role might mean that the Upside-Down was never closed.
In their lengthy theory, the Reddit user alludes to the fact that the gate to the Upside-Down may not be completely shut.
If Eleven is infected, then that might be the reason why she can’t use her powers and if she can’t use her powers, then that must mean that the Upside-Down is still open and The Mind Flayer wasn’t completely destroyed.
After reading this theory, we don’t know what the Hawkins kids will do without El’s help and superpowers?
Also, if Eleven is, in fact, the newest villain, then Season 4 will definitely be one to remember.
