Season 2 took place around Halloween, but this season will be all about the summer. Stranger Things has a new poster showing Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) holding hands. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Max (Sadie Sink) are busy looking at fireworks. Will (Noah Schnapp) however is looking back worried.
There has been a teaser clip released
The date announcement came out on New Year’s Day. So it only makes sense that the teaser shows Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve from 1985. It shows the host announcing the countdown for the apple drop in New York City. However, it keeps getting interrupted by code.
In the first interruption the words “when blue and yellow meet in the west” are highlighted. The next interruption is a screen reading “Welcome to LYNX Corp.” There is then a closeup on the words “SilverCatFeeds.”
The screen then moves and we hear one of the kids yelling. Finally, the clip ends with the words “one summer can change everything…” The new season will take place around July 4, 1985.
The episode titles of the season have been released
There have been hints released before the date announcement. The episode titles of the upcoming eight episodes have been released.
1. “Suzie, Do You Copy?”
2. “The Mall Rats”
3. “The Case of the Missing Life Guard”
4. “The Sauna Test”
5. “The Source”
6. “The Birthday”
7. “The Bite”
8. “The Battle of Starcourt”
We might get to see some of our favorite characters working summer jobs this season. It’s probably not surprising that a mall will appear given how much they were a part of pop culture in the ’80s. There was also a teaser released promoting the Starcourt mall. There we see Steve (Joe Keery) is working in the ice cream parlor.
Netflix Vice President of Original Content, Cindy Holland previously teased some things about the new season. “It’s a hand-crafted show.” Holland said according to Vanity Fair “have worked really hard, and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so, they really want to take the time to get it right. I think it’s gonna be a fantastic season; it’s gonna be worth the wait.”
There are so many hints coming together, but there is still a lot of mystery around the new episodes. We know the dynamic between the characters will be different given Eleven has been officially adopted by Jim Hopper (David Harbour.) It will be interesting to see how she is living life more openly in Hawkins and more.
