Supernatural is one of the most popular action-adventure-horror-fantasy series of all time. Since 2005, millions of fans have tuned in every week to watch the Winchester brothers fight a wide range of supernatural beings in order to protect humanity from the beings’ devious behavior. The show can be both scary and actioned-packed, which is why it is able to appeal to a wider audience.

Due to the recent announcement that the show will have its 15th and final season this fall, fans are starting to worry about how they will be able to fill the void. While Supernatural has some unique qualities about it, there are some other shows that are very similar to this hit TV show.

‘The Vampire Diaries’

The Vampire Diaries is a TV show that is based off a series of books that was written by L.J. Smith in the early ’90s. If you have read the books, you may not be surprised to know that there are several aspects of the TV series that differ greatly from the books. However, this is still an extremely entertaining TV show.

The show is based on the main characters from the books: Elena Gilbert, Stefan Salvatore, and Stephan’s bad-boy brother, Damon Salvatore. Elena is a human, and thanks to her two new vampire friends, gets thrust into the world of paranormal creatures, like witches, ghost, and other hybrid creatures.

The series ended after its eighth season, in 2017. However, you can still stream the show from Amazon Prime and Netflix.

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

Long before Sam and Dean Winchester were battling dark and scary creatures, a cute but tough girl named Buffy was kicking butt and taking names all throughout the paranormal world. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the highest-rated shows back in the ’90s.

The show followed Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) as she ruthlessly and viciously took down some of the most terrifying creatures from the supernatural world, including vampires, demons, and zombies. This show has everything that Supernaturalfans have come to expect: action, adventure, and suspense.

This show may be a bit older than some of the other shows on our list, but it is a classic that is definitely worth checking out. You can stream full seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on HuluAmazon Prime, and Facebook Watch.

‘Lucifer’

This show has an almost comical plot, but it is actually pretty entertaining to watch. The show is about Lucifer Morningstar (a.k.a. The Devil). One day, Lucifer decides that he no longer wants to be in Hell anymore, so instead, he decides to move to L.A. where he runs his very own successful nightclub. The show follows Lucifer around as he and Eve (from the biblical story, Adam and Eve) get into all kinds of trouble. He eventually even starts to work with a member of the LAPD in order to help her solve a crime.

The show has a total of four seasons. It used to be on Fox, but now you can stream the series in its entirety on Netflix.

‘American Horror Story’

If you are looking for a unique and terrifying TV show, then you will definitely want to check out American Horror Story. What makes this show so different from any other TV show available right now is that fact that every season in this series acts as a stand-alone story. When you have finished one season, you have essentially finished that story. The next season will feature an entirely new cast and storyline. This show covers a wide range of supernatural creatures, such as ghosts, witches, and other spooky beings.

The show is currently on its eighth season and still on FX. However, if you want to catch up on the seven previous seasons, you can stream it easily on Netflix.
