Sylvester Stallone Admits He Goes Rambo On His Daughter’s Boyfriends
Sylvester Stallone has three daughters with his wife Jennifer Flavin. Sistine Rose Stallone is a model and actor. Her first movie, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged came out this summer. Her sisters are Sophia and Scarlett. Stallone is as protective as any father would be, but when he’s played movie tough guys like Rocky and Rambo, he has some extra tools at his disposal.
Stallone spoke about his daughters at a Los Angeles press conference for his latest film, Rambo: Last Blood. In his fifth Rambo movie, John Rambo (Stallone) has to rescue his niece Gabrielle (Yvette Monreal) from human traffickers. Rambo: Last Blood is in theaters Friday, September 21.
Sylvester Stallone stares down the boys who visit his daughters
Most young boys probably dream of meeting a hero like Sylvester Stallone. If you want to date his daughter though, watch out.
“You don’t realize it,” Stallone said. “They go, ‘What are you doing?’ ‘I’m looking at that jerk over there.’ You just can’t help it.”
Rambo does that to Gabrielle’s friends in Last Blood. That was autobiographical.
“I thought to throw that in there because you stare at them,” he explained. “While it’s not intentional, it’s not intentional but when you have a daughter, it’s a form of temporary insanity when some guy walks in the house. You’re not yourself anymore.”
Just try to shake Sylvester Stallone’s hand, he dares you
Sylvester Stallone has been working out since before any of his daughters’ friends were born. See what happens when they shake his hand.
“I do a thing called crushing the hand test,” Stallone said. “I work my hands very much and they’re very strong so when I meet her date, I really clamp down and they’re not ready for it. I can see their faces changing color because they want to be alpha dogs. I know they’ll never forget it.”
He’s trying to talk his daughters out of acting
Sistine Stallone already made her first movie, but Sly advises against going into the family business. Even when you’re as successful as he is, it’s an emotionally devastating career path.
“I say, ‘If you really want to be an actress, it’s an incredibly difficult decision,” Stallone said. “You can’t go in halfway. You’re all in and your heart is going to get broken many, many times. It’s a unique business.”
Stallone elaborated on how personal acting becomes.
“Real Estate, oh, you don’t like my house, okay,” he continued. “I lost a case in court, well, the judge is stupid. As an actor, we don’t like you. You’re not good enough. You’re a failure. I’ve heard this and they’ve all heard it.”
As tough as Stallone is on their dates, he’s gentle with his daughter’s hearts.
“I say, ‘You better be ready to have your soul torn apart, and then you’ve got to glue it together at night, get back together and keep going on and still there’s no guarantee. So if you’re going to be an actor, be prepared to go through hell, really hell. Really hell.’ So on that note I say, ‘Why don’t you learn to ride a horse? That’s fun. Enjoy your life.’ They’re thinking about it now but I don’t recommend it unless it’s something you can’t control. It’s just in you, you breathe it.”Sylvester Stallone, Rambo: Last Blood press conference, 9/13/19
Sylvester Stallone’s toughest opponents are the women at home
In the movies, Sylvester Stallone can defeat giant Russians, armies of gunmen and an entire mountain. At home, the women get him every single time.
“I realize that if they had more muscles, I would be in trouble. I lose every debate. I’m never right. Every piece of furniture I pick is wrong. So I think it’s very funny but there’s no way you can be with five women and not understand that you’re going to lose every time. Actually, I’ve gotten used to it. I’m like, ‘I’m a loser. No problem.’ But yeah, it’s not easy. Even the dogs are female.”Sylvester Stallone, Rambo: Last Blood press conference, 9/13/19
