Tamar Braxton’s Ex-Husband Vincent Herbert Owes Sony Music $4 Million

It looks like the financial troubles continue for Tamar Braxton’s ex-husband, Vincent Herbert. The singer and reality star’s ex and former manager has been accused of having outstanding debts and refusing to pay up.

The latest to accuse Herbert of owing money is Sony Music Group, the label responsible for helping him support Braxton’s career. Sony claims he owes upwards of $4 million in unpaid reimbursements to the label for fronting him cash to find new talent for the company’s roster.

Herbert has been battling it out in court with Sony and others since his split from Braxton. He has not spoken on the current cases against him.

Who is Vincent Herbert?

Long before being known to the world as Tamar Braxton’s husband and manager, Vincent Herbert was a very successful record executive. The New Jersey native was once head of his own label, Streamline Records, a subsidiary of Interscope.

Braxton was not his first artist Herbert managed. He managed the oldest Braxton sister, Toni Braxton for several years before they parted ways. Herbert also managed the supergroup Mindless Behavior, R&B group Xscape and rapper Remy Ma. His most famous client was Lady Gaga, who he helped discover.

Herbert’s managerial duties shifted once he began to focus solely on Braxton’s career until she filed for divorce in October 2017. Remy Martin dropped Herbert as her manager in 2018, stating his divorce proceedings were affecting his work.

Lawsuits mount against Vincent Herbert

Rumors began to swirl that Herbert and Braxton had a reputation of not paying major bills. Before shutting down his popular website, blogger Funky Dineva unearthed an exposé of various expenses Herbert and Braxton were said to have owed.

One of the first to claim non-payment before Braxton and Herbert’s divorce was stylist DiAndre Tristan. Wetpaint reposted Dineva’s blog claiming Tristan acquired management who suggested he have a contract with Braxton to ensure payment for his services. Dineva claimed that Braxton and Herbert got upset with Tristan when he asked for his money upfront and as a result, they cut ties with him. A former nanny then sued the couple for unpaid wages and eventually received a settlement of over $200k.

More serious allegations came post-Braxton’s divorce filing from Herbert. The Blast reported that Herbert’s landlord’s company sued to evict him from his $37k a month bachelor paid and accused him of bouncing checks. He eventually was forced to vacate the home.

Sony says Vincent Herbert owes millions

This isn’t the first time Sony Music has faced off in court with Herbert. In 2017, they were awarded $2.3 million in a lawsuit they brought against Herbert for claiming they advanced him money to be recouped in a development deal. The Blast reported that Herbert did not hold up his end of the deal. Herbert failed to pay any of the settlement money and was hit with a default judgment of $3,738,515.93.

In the new suit, Sony now alleges that Herbert is hiding assets to continue living his lavish lifestyle. They believe that Herbert has created a shell company named “GloJoe” and has arranged for current and future earnings to be deposited into the new account.

Sony claims to know that Herbert collected another $1,825,424 using “GloJoe” and are demanding that a judge step in to force Herbert to turn over his cash. This comes after more financial cases against Herbert to collect what’s owed, including the threat of having his music royalties seized as part of another legal battle over a 2016 Rolls Royce lease.
