Tamron Hall Shares the Relatable Parenting Moment That Had Her Crying in the Target Parking Lot
Former Today Show co-host Tamron Hall is having a banner year. Marrying music executive Steve Greener and then giving birth to their son Moses in April, Hall also just launched her own talk show earlier this month.
Now as a working mom, the talk show host has struggled with trying to do everything right for her son. One story she shared is sure to be very relatable to many moms of small children.
Pregnancy – and marriage – under wraps
Many fans did not even know Hall was pregnant until she posted the news on her Instagram account, revealing her baby bump. At 48, Hall knew the risks of potentially not carrying to term, so she wanted to wait to share her good news until she reached a point in her pregnancy that was closer to her due date. She decided make her announcement when she discovered the information had been leaked to the media.
“We got a call. They didn’t ask, they said they knew. We assume it was the hospital, because I’d just checked in to get my room. So I had to tell. I have to hold my destiny and my own story in my hands. Also, I was a high risk,” Hall said, according to Good Housekeeping. “I was so scared that I was going to lose this pregnancy. I didn’t want to stress out about if people would know. My blood pressure didn’t spike, but I remember feeling anxiety. And I was so close. I was 32 weeks. And so we decided, let’s just embrace the happiness and the joy and not worry about what was to come.”
The big reveal
Hall let her fans and followers know her parenting status in a detailed Instagram post, revealing her news and joy. “I’ve wanted to share this news for many months and now finally my doctor has said I am in a safe place, at 32 weeks, to share my joy with y’all,” she wrote. “So, it’s clear a daytime talk show isn’t the only thing I’ve been trying to produce! There have been many tears, but today I embrace the smiles.”
Then she dropped the other headline about her relationship status. “My husband Steven and I are beyond excited!” Hall shared. “We’re in constant prayer, so if you pray, add us to your list; if you meditate, send calmness our way; and if you believe in luck, we’ll happily take that too. More to share in a few weeks when the baby arrives! Next chapter! Blessed and Grateful.”
A mothering moment
As a new mom, Hall tended to put pressure on herself for fear of not doing everything right for her son Moses. The talk show host recently shared an incident where she couldn’t help but break down – right in the parking lot of Target.
“My son kept spitting up. My mom said, ‘Why is he spitting up so much? I think it may be the milk.’ So I called the doctor, and I said, ‘Let’s change to Similac Sensitive,’” Hall explained. “I changed it, and he still spit up. We went to another milk. I was worried. He was retaining weight — if you see pictures of my son, he’s like a little German wrestler. My doctor said, ‘Well, his body is still developing.'”
Hall went on to express that not being able to solve the problem for her son made her feel helpless. “I was feeling so much pressure to try to get that part right. I went to Target, and I was just crying in the parking lot, thinking, ‘What milk am I going to get?’” she said. “It makes me emotional even now, because I felt so alone. Then, like a light switch, two weeks later, he’s no longer throwing up. It wasn’t any milk change, it was just time.”
Now with Moses thriving at 5 months old, Hall realizes that these are all aspects of motherhood rather than any mistakes on her part. “All of these alarm bells go off, and you worry that you’ll be judged, or you’ll judge yourself,” she said, according to Good Housekeeping. “Now, five months later, I realize it’s just time. He’s a developing, living being.”
