Taylor Swift Just Announced a New Album Coming Out at Midnight and Fans Are Losing It
Taylor Swift may have just broken the internet. The “Cardigan” singer just announced that she is releasing a whole new album tonight at midnight. This new album comes less than four months after her long-awaited Folklore.
Taylor Swift’s new album
Swift woke up this morning and chose to both shock and bless her fans with the announcement of her new album, Evermore.
“I’m elated to tell you that my 9th studio album, and Folklore’s sister record, will be out tonight at midnight eastern,” she tweeted. “It’s called Evermore.
“To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs,” she continued. “To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in.”
Swift has never released albums in this close proximity. Prior to this, all of her albums had at least a year’s worth of time in between.
“I’ve never done this before,” she said. “In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with Folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning.”
There was something about the music in Folklore that made her want to keep going.
“I loved the escapism I found in these imaginary/not imaginary tales,” she said. “I loved the ways you welcomed the dreamscapes and tragedies and epic tales of love lost and found into your lives. So I just kept writing them.”
And this album is coming with some heavy hitters behind the lyrics like Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, and Justin Vernon.
Fans are losing it over ‘Evermore’
Swift has released the tracklist for this new album, which shows that it has features by big names like HAIM, The National, and Bon Iver, and fans are already going crazy over the collaborations.
“HAIM is going to be featured on Taylor Swift’s new album, ‘Evermore’, dropping at midnight Eastern tonight!” one Reddit user wrote. “Can’t believe two of my favorite artists are finally collaborating!”
Other fans felt like something was up before the announcement.
“I was wondering what the deal was with the publicity between Danielle and Taylor lately,” another person commented on the thread. “I was confused when I saw a pic of them randomly standing in the ocean together. It’s all making sense now.”
Others felt like they had wished for more Swift music so hard that they actually made it happen.
“I just manifested another acoustic Taylor Swift album lol,” one person said.
And others mourned the loss of the money they will undoubtedly spend on the album.
“Jesus plus another Bon Iver feature,” one fan said. “Just when I thought I’d stop spending on vinyl for the year.”
Though everyone is in shock now, they have until midnight to get themselves together to prepare to listen to Evermore.
