Taylor Swift: The Terrifying Reason the Star Keeps Quiet About Her Whereabouts
Taylor Swift has penned multiple hit songs about her feelings and experiences as she goes through life. While the singer is often very open in her lyrics, she is the total opposite when it comes to her daily life.
Fans will usually not ever know much about where Swift is at any given moment, and she has a reason for it. Read on below to find out why Swift tries to keep her whereabouts on the down-low.
Taylor Swift has had multiple experiences with stalkers
Because Swift is a famous singer who is idolized all over the world, she, unfortunately, has some fans who take their obsession with her a bit too far.
In a recent interview with Sunday Morning, Swift shared that she deals with stalkers quite a bit and that is why she is careful about letting the public know where she is most of the time. “Since all my addresses are on the internet, people tend to show up uninvited — like, you know, dudes that think we have an imaginary marriage,” Swift said.
In fact, there is one stalker who has been arrested three times for breaking into her home when she wasn’t there. According to reports, the stalker — a man from Florida named Roger Alvarado — would do things such as break her front door with a brick, use her shower, and sleep in her bed.
While Swift has never been harmed by Alvarado, she still prepares for the worst. She told Sunday Morning that she always has wound dressing with her. “I’ve had a lot of stalkers show up to the house armed, so we have to think that way,” Swift shared.
Swift sometimes has to leave her home in a suitcase
Swift has learned to deal with stalkers and other uninvited people at her front door in another way: travelling inconspicuously.
In 2017, fans began spreading around a theory that Swift occasionally leaves her home in a suitcase after photos of her bodyguards carrying a human-sized suitcase appeared on the internet. Fellow singer Zayn Malik eventually confirmed this rumor in 2018.
Although the thought of Swift stuffing herself into a suitcase might sound amusing to some fans, it only shows just how little privacy she has in her daily life and how far the star goes to keep herself safe.
Swift is also terrified when she goes on tour
Swift is scared of dangerous stalkers when she is at home, but the fear does not go away when she goes on tour. In fact, when she is performing on stage, Swift is terrified not just for her safety but her fans’ as well.
Back in March, Swift shared with Elle her biggest fear at the moment and that is a dangerous situation occurring at one of her shows.
“After the Manchester Arena bombing and the Vegas concert shooting, I was completely terrified to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to keep 3 million fans safe over seven months,” Swift wrote. “There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense, and effort put into keeping my fans safe.”
It’s clear that there is a high price to pay for being as famous as Taylor Swift in that she often cannot ever let down her guard. However, instead of hiding away to avoid these unknown dangers, Swift revealed that she still tries her best to enjoy life.
“Every day I try to remind myself of the good in the world, the love I’ve witnessed and the faith I have in humanity,” she told Elle. “We have to live bravely in order to truly feel alive, and that means not being ruled by our greatest fears.”
