Teddi Mellencamp from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was in a reflective mood on her 38th birthday.
The wife and mother decided to mark the day by sharing a photo of herself when she wasn’t at the peak of fitness perfection. She also chatted with Showbiz Cheat Sheet in April about her journey to health. Plus she shared how this journey acted as a springboard for her booming business, ALL IN by Teddi.
In her Instagram birthday post, she admits that she struggled with her weight. But today, years later she is on the right path to health and fitness.
She hit this weight
Mellencamp is up front with how much weight she packed on at one point. ” I remember having to step on the scale at the doctor— and the tears when the doc said, “Teddi, you’re 5’3” and over 200lbs.” The me in that picture would do extreme fad diets, lose a bunch of weight and then gain it all back again,” she wrote on her Instagram post.
She also compares a photo of her at 200 pounds to today. “Photo on the left: my birthday during one of the many years I was truly struggling with taking care of myself when it came to health and fitness,” she wrote. “Picture on the right: Now, going into my 38th year with four years of consistent commitment to my lifestyle.”
As many viewers know, Mellencamp still manages to have fun. “Four years years I have been All IN— no yo-yo. And even when I do get a little ‘wild’ (for instance, you may have seen me on #RHOBH in Provence 😂), I have the tools to reel it back in rather than letting myself unravel for week’s worth of choices that don’t work for me.”
The low point was more than just physical
When Mellencamp talked with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, she said the weight impacted how she felt about herself. “I wasn’t doing much about it and I got kind of depressed and really down on myself,” she admits. “And I got to a place where I was a really good mom, but after I’d put the kids to bed I just felt bad.”
Even looking at photos of herself was hard. “I remember looking at this picture, and it was such a cute picture of all our little kids together,” she said. “And I just looked at myself and said there was absolutely no way I could ever show this picture to my husband or anyone I know.”
That low point kicked off Mellencamp’s weight loss journey and new business. She quietly started an Instagram account and commented that anyone could follow her journey to better health. The rest is history. Her efforts turned into a booming business that now includes 40 coaches and a growing list of clients.
Happy and healthy at 38
Mellencamp seems very grateful for good health and being in a better place at age 38. “I am grateful that at this age of 38 I now know that healthy living isn’t a diet— it’s a lifestyle,” she wrote on her post. “I am so blessed to be surrounded by an amazing team @goallinbyteddi who have also changed their lives and continue to help me stay committed to feeling my best.”
“This support network is invaluable and one of the best gifts I could ask for,” she continued. “Thank you to my team of coaches, clients, family and friends who have gone All IN with me. 38 is gonna be the best year yet.” Indeed. Happy birthday, Teddi!
