‘Teen Mom 2’: What Really Happened When Javi Marroquin Almost Left Kailyn Lowry Because He Thought She’d Leave Him for a Woman
Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin were married for about two years. Together, they have one son: Lincoln.
Lowry went through a lot with Marroquin. Before they were even married, Lowry’s best friend told her then-boyfriend that Lowry would leave him for a woman someday and it almost completely shattered their relationship.
Here’s what happened.
Who told Javi Marroquin that Kailyn Lowry would leave him for a woman?
In Lowry’s 2014 book, Pride Over Pity, she writes about her friendship with a girl named Aria.
“To clarify my relationship with Aria: we never dated. We were never teetering between friendship and a relationship. While I was still living at Jo’s we hooked up once. This wasn’t Girls Gone Wild sh*t. I felt an indescribable love for Aria. It wasn’t romantic love, but that didn’t make it any less meaningful,” she wrote.
According to Lowry, Aria was “convinced I was gay like her.”
Eventually, Lowry began to worry that “Aria wanted to destroy” her relationship with Marroquin.
“I felt like she was too intensely eager to push me towards girls. There is no denying my attraction to certain women, but in my mind there was no need for the discussion because experimentation is as far as I ever wanted to go. I honestly believe that nobody is completely straight and attraction to the same sex is natural, but Aria’s insistence that I should only be with girls was not true to who I am. I felt like she kept telling me what I wanted, but really it was just what she wanted,” she shared.
“Aria told Javi that I was gay and I would eventually leave him for a woman,” Lowry continued.
Javi Marroquin left Kailyn Lowry
Marroquin believed Lowry’s best friend and left “without even hearing me out and went to stay with some friends at Bloomsburg University, two hours away.”
Lowry went after him to try and explain the situation properly.
“I was hoping to have a calm discussion with Javi to explain that Aria had skewed our conversation to sound like I was interested in dating women, but I never got the chance. As soon as I arrived on campus, I was confronted by ten sorority girls, accompanied by a guy who grabbed me and prevented me from seeing Javi. He repeatedly said how awful I was and the girls pushed me around,” she wrote.
Lowry says it was the worst night of her life.
Eventually, Lowry’s (at that point former) best friend told Marroquin that she’d misrepresented the details of the conversation she’d had with Lowry about her sexuality.
In the end, things worked out for Lowry and Marroquin.
“Thankfully, the love Javi and I possess proved to be stronger than the drama the rumors and lies had brought into our lives. Javi eventually cooled down and we were able to find a way around the anger and hurt,” she wrote.
In fact, it was that incident that proved one thing to be absolutely certain for Lowry: “I wanted to marry Javi.”
