‘Teen Mom 2’: Will Jenelle Evans and Her Mother Ever Have a Decent Relationship?
Though Jenelle Evans is no longer on a reality show, her life continues to be broadcast for the world to see. Over the past few months, the former Teen Mom 2 star has been embroiled in a bitter custody battle with her mom, Barbara.
While the legal battles happen inside the courtroom, the fights between Evans and her mother have been on full display. As things continue to escalate between the two, we can only wonder: “Is there still hope for Jenelle Evans and her mother to have a decent relationship?”

Jenell Evans just recently regained custody of her kids
In early May, North Carolina police were called to the home of Evans and Eason after Eason shot and killed the family’s French bulldog. Eason defended his actions claiming the dog posed a risk to the couple’s two-year-old daughter Ensley and he had no other choice.
When fans cried out saying the former reality star had gone too far, Eason took to social media, writing, “I dont [sic] give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face,” he said according to Us Weekly. “Whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I dont [sic] put up with that sh*t at all. I’m all about protecting my family, it is my lifes [sic] mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me.”
Upon learning of the events, child protective services removed the couple’s children from their home. The couple’s two-year-old daughter Ensley was ordered into the custody of Barbara. Barbara already has custody of Evans’ oldest son Jace. Evans’ five-year-old son with ex Nathan Griffith was ordered to live with Griffith’s mother and Eason’s 12-year-old daughter is currently in the care of his mother.
Things got heated between Jenelle and Barbara last month
It’s natural for emotions to be heightened during a custody dispute. But the fact that Evans is fighting her own mom has to make it exponentially harder. It was clear that the two were struggling to get along after a court appearance last month.
After attending court, Evans met Ensley outside of the courthouse to give her a hug. Barbara attempted to rush the situation, claiming that Ensley was hungry and had a limited amount of time for lunch.
The incident continued to escalate with Evans telling TMZ that her mother had blocked her number. Barbara hit back claiming her daughter’s actions were only “for the camera.” Evans subsequently told her mom that she would be contacting family services because her brother, who lives with Barbara, posted inappropriate pictures of her daughter online. Needless to say, at the end of the interaction, it looked like the two had definitely crossed a few lines and were on their way to a point of no return.
Is there hope for the two moving forward?
Barbara and Evans were recently seen outside the courthouse once again, but this time the interaction seemed to go a lot better. Barbara asked Evans about Ensley’s vaccinations and Evans showed no signs of anger or resentment. She was civil and provided the information that was requested.
But it looks like the good times were short-lived. Though Barbara and Evans appeared to be making progress in prioritizing the children and mending fences, it looks like the family has taken a step backward.
According to TMZ, Eason called 911 after Evans’ 9-year-old son reported that Barbara had locked two-year-old Ensley in her bedroom. Eason claimed that the toddler was locked in her room while her grandmother took a shower. After she finished her shower, she was unable to get the child out of the room.
It is unclear whether Evans had any role in the call or whether she was aware of the situation at the time. But as long as Evans and Eason are married, his actions will continue to affect the family dynamic moving forward. The hope of repairing this relationship seems to be getting smaller every day.
