MTV’s Teen Mom OG cast member Amber Portwood has had an eventful four months. On Jul. 5, she was arrested for domestic violence against her ex-boyfriend Andrew Glennon after he alleged that she hit him and wielded a machete in front of their son, James.
Both Glennon and Portwood took a break from Instagram at the advice of their lawyers. But recently, rumors and public scrutiny seem to have both of them making cryptic posts on their Instagram stories and feeds. Read on to learn the potential meaning behind their recent shares.
The ‘Teen Mom OG’ mother of two shared an intense now-deleted post and a heartbreaking song
Portwood’s Instagram has been mostly quiet lately, but she did return to Instagram Live briefly to connect with her fans.
On Saturday, Portwood also shared a now-deleted picture with the caption “We can’t control the filters that others choose when they look at us.” YouTuber and Teen Mom OG commentator Grace Report shared a screenshot of the post.
Under the picture, Portwood wrote, “I look straight ahead and move forward. You all need to stop tearing down someone in the lowest part of their life. As of now you get absolutely nothing from me. Still sending love to all my beautiful souls.” She added a zipped-lips emoji to hint that she’d be staying mum.
She also shared the song “1-800-273-8255” by Logic ft. Alessia Cara and Khalid, which is about suicidal ideation and suicide prevention.
On Sunday afternoon, she posted a follow-up to her now-deleted post about rumors: “Don’t listen to everything you read or hear guys love you,” accompanied by an image of the quote, “big or small, lies are lies.”
Some fans have speculated that Portwood may be dating again
Portwood’s posts might have been sparked in part by recent rumors that the Teen Mom OG cast member is dating again in Indiana. YouTuber Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball recently claimed that several sources close to Portwood have said she’s been seeing a local mystery man named Mike.
Although there’s no way to confirm the rumors as of yet, some fans have speculated that Portwood is using her recent Instagram posts to push back against claims she’s on the rebound.
Glennon recently spoke out against Portwood and MTV
Glennon recently spoke out on his Instagram stories, pushing back against corporate sponsors of MTV and Teen Mom OG. He argued that the sponsors “silence” spoke “volumes” and that, in effect, they were condoning domestic violence.
He named big-named MTV sponsors like Taco Bell, Arby’s, and Maybelline, calling them out for not ending their sponsorship and pulling their advertisements when Portwood is still on the network’s payroll and reportedly filming for Teen Mom OG.
He also called out MTV for what he described as their attempt to “redeem” his ex-girlfriend in the public eye. Glennon added that James has been doing well under his care and seems to be thriving in terms of his development.
Glennon has an emergency protective order against Portwood, who is apparently only allowed supervised visits with her toddler son. Portwood’s next court appearance in the ongoing domestic violence case is scheduled for Oct. 31.
