The 1 Reason Victoria Beckham Won’t Be Joining the Spice Girls On Tour

Ever since the Spice Girls all got together in February 2018 and posted a photo of their meet-up on social media, rumblings about a potential reunion tour and who will and won’t be joining have been reported almost daily. Every day, came another report about if the beloved ’90s girl group will embark on a worldwide tour together — and if so, would they only be performing as a foursome?

Here’s what we know about if a tour is actually happening and why Victoria Beckham said she won’t be involved.

The internet went wild after this photo

Not only did the ladies send the internet into a frenzy with the photo of them all together at Geri Horner’s house, but they really had social media buzzing when they snapped a shot that same day with their manager.

Beckham posted the picture of Simon Fuller with the women at Horner’s in February 2018, and rumors started that they had to be discussing new music or an upcoming tour.

TMZ was one of the first to report that their meeting did launch tour talks and that all five members had signed on.

Sources told the media outlet that the planning was still in the early stages, but a tour would likely kick off in the summer of 2018 and would include dates in the U.K. and the U.S.

Following all the chatter, Beckham decided to shut down the rumors of a reunion tour and explained why even if there was one she wouldn’t be a part of it.

“I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour,” she told Vogue, while promoting her fall/winter line at New York Fashion Week. “It was so great to see the girls. We had such a fun lunch. It was really, really, really lovely … But this [fashion design] is what I do now.”

Fuller said tour could go on with four members

While the idea of not having Beckham tour with the other Spice Girls isn’t really what fans wanted to hear, it doesn’t mean that shows with four-fifths of the band can’t happen. In fact, Fuller told TMZ that a reunion is still possible saying, “It may be four, not five.”

His use of the word “may” though has led many to believe that despite her resistance, he is still trying to get Beckham on board.

Spice Girls may reunite just for the royal wedding

There’s also a possibility that some of this reunion talk may not be related to a tour, but instead just a one-day affair. On Feb. 27, 2018, Mel B appeared on The Real and was pressed by the hosts for details about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming nuptials.

Scary Spice admitted that she and her bandmates were invited to the royal wedding, and many took her non-response to the question of whether or not they would be performing to be as good as a “yes.”

However, when asked about this, Fuller said he didn’t not know anything about it.

These days, the ladies have 12 children between them, and the kids each have their own feelings about their mothers reuniting for a group that was around long before they were born. Sporty Spice revealed that she believes her daughter, Scarlet, and her bandmates’ children have “mixed feelings” about the whole thing because the Spice Girls were a cultural phenomenon that they don’t really understand.

“All of them like the idea and Scarlet is definitely proud, but at the end of the day she would really rather have her mummy all to herself,” Chisholm said.

And when it comes to what Beckham’s daughter, Harper, thinks of the group — well, she just loved the costumes the women wore in Spice World even though her mother did not. Posh Spice explained how she was so upset about wearing that army dress in the film, but her daughter is quite the fan of it.

“‘Mummy, I love that bit when everyone’s in the really cool clothes and you’re in the tight little army dress!'” Harper reportedly told her.

In early March, Horner teased fans a bit when she took to Instagram and posted a cryptic message which read, “Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen” and captioned it, “Let’s go with that.”

Many fans viewed the post as Horner’s way of letting everyone know that some great Spice Girls news will be released shortly. Here’s hoping!
