The 1 Thing Chrissy Teigen Won’t Share About Her Kids on Social Media

Celebrity chef Chrissy Teigen is well-known for having many pans in the fire and along with her marriage to singer/songwriter John Legend, she’s also a famous model, bestselling cookbook author, host of the popular TV show Lip Sync Battle and more.

As this starlet continues to rise in fame, popularity and fortune, she’s become a social media sensation with 24.2 million followers on Instagram and another 11.2 million Twitter fans.

The 33-year-old mother of two is blowing up the Twitterverse and posting a plethora of priceless pieces on Instagram showcasing her quick wit, a wicked sense of humor and a beloved sense of authenticity.

One might argue there’s nothing the former swimsuit Sports Illustrated cover girl won’t reveal on social media but there’s at least one topic she keeps close to her heart and away from the internet.

Sweet share on PopSugar

Teigen recently opened up during an interview with PopSugar about her online presence and how she guards her children’s private lives on the internet. Even though we’ve seen tons of pictures of Teigen’s tykes on multiple platforms, she’s actually pretty picky about what she posts about her kids when she shared this telling statement with PS:

“I don’t really post any things that the kids would be ashamed of or mad at me for posting. I see a lot of people posting their kids’ tantrums and having super meltdowns. I don’t post that stuff just because that, to me, is like — I wouldn’t want someone to do that. You try to protect them, of course, but for the most part, aside from the kids, there is no limit.”

We’ve also seen plenty of pot-shots, jabs and stabs directed at her husband, especially on Twitter, but apparently, there’s a limit to the type of comments she’s willing to share about their offspring.

Raising awareness, understanding and support

All kidding aside, Teigen has been very candid about some of her off-screen struggles especially dealing with postpartum depression (PPD) following her pregnancy with her daughter Luna. She also told PopSugar she “loves” talking about this often debilitating disorder and has even been approached by men who want to discuss the topic as their partners are likely having problems dealing with PPD.

For celebrities like Teigen with an enormous following on social media, they have the ability to raise awareness, gain understanding and support about more pressing issues outside of more hot button topics like the Royals or Kardashians. For Teigen and other mothers who share this affliction associated with childbirth, often overwhelming symptoms include:

  • Feelings of sadness, being restless, full of anxiety and being sad with frequent crying or tearfulness
  • A loss of energy, interest in daily activities including caring for their newborn infant
  • Trouble sleeping with difficulties either falling, staying or sleeping too often
  • A loss of appetite along with unexplained weight gain or loss
  • Feeling worthless, guilty, hopeless and believing life isn’t worth living which may lead to thoughts of suicide.

Although Teigen shies away from sharing negative aspects she and Legend may have had with their babies, Teigen is only too happy to discuss her views on the topic of depression.

In the PopSugar piece, she shared her willingness to help others cope with the condition and doesn’t seem to mind when strangers approach her about PPD and talks openly about the subject to the public.

Stemming from her 2017 Glamour cover and interview inside the magazine, she shared poignant parts of her personal life including highlighting moments when her PPD was particularly painful. Teigen complained of an aching lower back, pain in her wrists and shoulders.

Mirroring some of the symptoms as described previously, Teigen found herself going up to two days without eating, being “short” with people and bursting into tears.

Along with Legend’s tearful tribute to his wife when he presented her with the Woman of the Year honor from Glamour in 2018, her genuine nature and authenticity are to be congratulated. Best wishes to this beautiful couple, their adorable children and a potentially bright future for the whole bunch.
