The 1 Thing Making Prince William Nervous About His Upcoming Royal Tour in Pakistan

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s whirlwind Africa trip winds down to a close, all eyes are on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they prepare for the next big royal tour of the fall. Prince William and Kate Middleton are taking a trip to Pakistan in a historic move for the British royal family.

It’s been 13 years since anyone from the royal family visited the South Asian country of Pakistan. But some royal fans are questioning the safety of traveling to Pakistan. Britain’s Foreign Office (FCO) issued a warning on their website recommending against travel to certain areas in Pakistan, noting risks including, “terrorism, kidnapping and sectarian violence throughout the country.”

But when it comes to their upcoming royal tour, Prince William has one major concern that has nothing to do with safety.

The Duke of Cambridge is concerned about the cuisine

So if it’s not potential terror attacks weighing heavily on Prince William’s mind, why exactly is he nervous about visiting Pakistan? The answer is simple: he doesn’t do well with spicy food.

Prince William and Kate Middleton recently prepared for their trip by meeting with British-Pakistani officials during an engagement at the Aga Khan Center in London. While there, the Duke of Cambridge admitted that spicy cuisine doesn’t always agree with him.

During the conversation, Prince William said he, “love[d] spice,” but not heat. “Me and heat, not so good,” he explained. Despite the potentially negative consequences, he’s still planning on sampling local fare. “I’m looking forward to it anyway. I’m going to need a bigger suit,” he quipped.

Prince William has had problems with spicy food before

This isn’t the first time the Duke of Cambridge admitted to having issues with spicy dishes. According to Taste of Home, Kate Middleton is a big fan of cooking spicy curry and continues to do so even though it gives Prince William tummy troubles.

In past interviews even before the Pakistan trip was announced, Prince William said spicy food was an issue for him and he tried to avoid it. But Kate Middleton will happily indulge in all the cuisines of Pakistan.

“It’s so hard cooking curry in the family. The children have a portion with no spice, yours is medium,” Middleton said to William. “And I quite like it hot.”

Middleton also said Princess Charlotte’s palate is more like her mother’s, and that she’s “pretty good” with handling spicy fare.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are almost ready for their trip to Pakistan

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are almost ready for their big trip, which is scheduled for Oct. 14 – Oct. 19, 2019. Unlike Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the couple will not be bringing their children along on the tour.

The last major tour the couple took was back in 2017 when Kate Middleton was pregnant with Prince Louis. At the time, they visited Sweden and Norway. The duke has gone on solo royal tours since then but this trip is especially significant for so many reasons.

We hope Prince William survives all that spicy food!
