The 5 Highest-Paid Actors of 2015
The last year has been very profitable for a few of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars, according to Forbes. The magazine has just released their annual list of the highest paid actors in the world, ranking leading men from around the globe based on their income from June 1, 2014 to June 1, 2015.
Several notable names, like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Channing Tatum, made the top 15, but which popular actors commanded the biggest paychecks? Here’s a look at the five highest-paid actors in the world of 2015:
5. Adam Sandler
Income: $41 million
It’s been a while since Sandler had a huge commercial hit, but that doesn’t mean he’s not getting paid. The actor continues to command top dollar for movies like this year’s Pixels, leading him to earn an estimated $41 million this year. Pixels ended up being another disappointment for Sandler, but he’s not easing up on his schedule anytime soon. This year, he also signed a deal with Netflix to make four films exclusively for the streaming service. He’s currently filming the first project for the deal, the Western parody The Ridiculous 6.
4. Bradley Cooper
Income: $41.5 million
Balancing rom-coms such as Cameron Crowe’s controversial Aloha and Oscar-friendly features like American Sniper helped make Cooper the fourth highest-paid actor this year. The actor produced and starred in the latter, which grossed $547.1 million and earned him an Oscar nod for Best Actor. The two movies earned Cooper an impressive $41.5 million paycheck over the last year. Next year looks to be another big one for Cooper, who will star in the upcoming comedy Burnt and is also set to reunite with Jennifer Lawrence and director David O. Russell in 2016’s Joy.
3. Vin Diesel
Income: $47 million
Vin Diesel raced his way to a $47 million finish line this year, in large part to the overwhelming success of Furious 7. The popular actor plays Dominic Toretto in the long-running Fast and Furious franchise and he reprised his role in the latest installment, which went on to gross $1.5 billion at the box office. With the film becoming such a huge commercial hit, Diesel can count 2015 as the highest-paying year of his career so far. Next up, the actor will star in next year’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.
2. Jackie Chan
Income: $50 million
Thanks to back-end profit from Dragon Blade (which grossed $120 million in China and is set to premiere stateside later this year) and a slew of brand extensions, Chan raked in $50 million over the last year. The actor counts a Segway dealership and a cinema chain as part of his brand empire. And it looks like the rest of 2015 will be just as profitable. He’s set to voice a character in Kung Fu Panda 3 later this year and will also star opposite Johnny Knoxville in the upcoming film, Skiptrace.
1. Robert Downey Jr
Income: $80 million
Downey Jr. is proving that Iron Man really is unbeatable by making more than any other leading man in the world for the third year in a row. The actor earned a whopping $80 million this year, thanks to his role in this year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War (the latter of which he reportedly commanded $40 million for). Add in income from the backend of Age of Ultron’s huge $1.4 billion gross and that puts the actor a full $30 million ahead of Chan, who took the No. 2 spot on this list.
