The Amazing Wedding Gift the Queen Might Give to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was undoubtedly be unique. Still, there were many royal traditions on display during the big day.

One thing that some royal watchers can’t stop speculating about is what Queen Elizabeth II will give to Harry and Markle on their wedding gift. Here’s everything we know about what she might bestow on them, including a shockingly extravagant gift (page 6).

The soon-to-be royal couple fell for each other, in part, over a shared love of philanthropy. So it should come as no surprise that they requested their wedding guests donate to a handful of charitable causes instead of bringing a gift.

This request isn’t entirely unique for the British royal family. Prince William and Kate Middleton raised more than $1 million for charity in the days leading up to their 2011 wedding.

And just because they’ve made this request doesn’t mean they won’t still receive some thoughtful gifts on their special day.

When William and Middleton tied the knot, they received a wide range of presents from around the world. And some of the gifts were pretty unique – like a tandem bike and even a song sung in their honor.

It’s safe to say that guests and dignitaries from around the world will also bestow some memorable tokens upon the newlyweds on their big day. But the most thoughtful gifts will probably come from their closest friends and family.

It stands to reason that if you’re tight with your grandparents, they’ll probably go all out when it comes to special occasions. If your grandmother just happens to be the Queen of England, the word “special” is on a whole different level.

When William and Middleton got married, she bequeathed upon them something only a sovereign monarch could. The queen gave them not just one, but three sets of titles. In Great Britain, they’re known as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. In Scotland, they’re the Earl and Countess of Strathearn. And in Northern Ireland, they’re referred to as Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus.

Sure, having some of the most honorable titles in Great Britain probably wasn’t on their registry. But it’s hard to imagine it wasn’t appreciated.

When Harry and Markle married on May 19, 2018, they got some fancy new titles, thanks to the queen. Harry and Markle will be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in England. And in Scotland, they’ll be known as the Earl and Countess of Ross.

Anyone who’s watched The Crown knows there are all kinds of rules and regulations where royal weddings are concerned. And one of the biggest hurdles any member of the royal family has to face is getting the queen to give their marriage her blessing.

In March 2018, the queen formally granted her consent for Harry to marry Markle. And while it was probably a given within their inner circle, it was still good news for the couple.

But that’s still not the last way the queen will bless their marriage.

According to The Mirror, Queen Elizabeth is planning on giving a country home to Harry and Markle as a wedding gift. The newlyweds would take over York Cottage, which sits on the royal Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Of course, it wouldn’t be the couples’ only residence. They currently spend most of their time in Nottingham Cottage, and by most accounts, they love it there.

But this quiet getaway could be just what they need. And it even comes with a built-in perk.

Queen Elizabeth gifted a different Sandringham cottage to William and Middleton for their wedding. And their Anmer Hall is situated very close to York Cottage.

So, it would be easy for the two couples to organize family weekend getaways. And, given all the attention on Harry and Markle as they begin their life as husband and wife, they’ll probably be grateful for any time away from the spotlight.
