‘The Bachelor’: Ben Higgins Accuses Colton Underwood of Lying in Promotions for His Netflix Show ‘Coming Out Colton’

Former "Bachelor" star Ben Higgins has accused Colton Underwood of lying while promoting his new Netflix show, "Coming Out Colton." This isn't the first time a member of Bachelor Nation has slammed Colton for being dishonest.

Colton Underwood claims he is being honest for the first time, but former star of The Bachelor Ben Higgins says he’s still lying. Higgins isn’t the only one who has called out Colton for lying on his new Netflix series, Coming Out Colton. Here’s what Ben had to say and who else has slammed Colton for being deceptive.

Colton Underwood said nobody from Bachelor Nation reached out to him after coming out while promoting his new Netflix show ‘Coming out Colton’

Thirty women competed for an engagement to Colton Underwood on season 23 of The Bachelor, which aired in 2019. In 2021, Colton publicly came out as gay, making him the first lead of the TV series to do so.

On Dec. 5, Colton told Us Weekly that he doesn’t have any friends in the Bachelor franchise other than former host Chris Harrison. He made the comments while promoting his new Netflix series, Coming out Colton.

“The only person that I really talked to is Chris [Harrison] still. Chris and I stay in touch,” said Colton. “I will say this [since] Chris was about the only one from the franchise who really reached out and sort of let me know that he was there for me, [asking] if there’s anything he can do.”

He added, “Unfortunately, I don’t have really any relationships in the franchise anymore.”

Ben Higgins said Colton Underwood’s remarks about Bachelor Nation weren’t true

Colton’s fellow former Bachelor star Ben Higgins claims that his remarks weren’t true. Ben, who was the lead on season 20 of The Bachelor, opened up about Colton’s claims on the Dec. 8 episode of “The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast.

Ben said, despite Colton’s claims, he and several other people from Bachelor Nation had reached out to the reality star after he publicly came out in April.

“Colton came out this week and said that nobody from Bachelor Nation reached out to him, kind of after coming out, and that’s just not true,” Ben revealed (via Cinema Blend).

He went on to say that Colton’s lie gave him a sick feeling in his stomach. “It kind of erupted my gut a little bit,” Ben said. “I know of multiple people that did, including myself, including friends of mine, that reached out to him.”

Ben said he couldn’t understand why Colton would lie about his Bachelor Nation friends. “So I don’t know why he’s saying that. I just don’t get it. I don’t know if that’s a good headline; I don’t know if it makes the rest of us look unsupportive or what.”

Ben Higgins says he sent the former ‘Bachelor’ star a gift after he publicly came out

The former Bachelor lead said that he not only reached out to Colton, but he also sent him a gift.

“I sent him a book about how you navigate being a Christian and coming out,” Ben shared. “So I just don’t understand this stuff sometimes. It’s like, are you just trying to make everybody else look bad and for people to feel bad? Because like, Colton, I know people who did, including myself. And so, that’s just a lie.”

Ben also said that Colton’s comments were so upsetting that he didn’t want to watch Coming Out Colton.

‘The Bachelor’: Tayshia Adams Slams Colton Underwood for ‘Extremely Rude’ Lies About Their Fantasy Suite Date on ‘Coming Out Colton’

This isn’t the first time the former ‘Bachelor’ star has been accused of lying on ‘Coming Out Colton’

Colton was also accused of lying on his show by former lead of The Bachelorette Tayshia Adams, who competed for his heart on season 23 of The Bachelor. In his new Netflix series, Colton described what he wore on his Fantasy Suite date with Tayshia to avoid leading her on.

“I felt so bad for Tayshia because I remember that night, I slept in sweatpants and a sweatshirt,” Colton said. “I was like, ‘I just don’t want to give her the wrong impression.’”

But Tayshia revealed that Colton lied during an episode of her podcast, “Bachelor Happy Hour,” that came out on Dec. 15. “No, Colton Underwood did actually not sleep in sweats and a sweatshirt that night,” Tayshia said (via Page Six).

She went on to detail the evening as she remembered it, saying it was a very hot night in Portugal, and Colton actually slept in boxers.

Seemingly addressing the former Bachelor lead, Tayshia said on the podcast, “I don’t know what you’re trying to cover, and I don’t know why you’re dragging me down for something that’s not even true, like it’s absolutely not true. I have no reason – like why the hell would I lie?”

She went on to call Colton’s claims “extremely rude” and say that she’s not his “pity case.” Tayshia also shared that his remarks saddened her. “It honestly makes me so sad because it’s just like at the end of the day, like we did have really good conversations, and I thought that we ended on a good page,” she said.
