‘The Bachelor’ Ben Higgins’ Fiance Reveals Whether She Is Watching His Season & Throws Some Shade at the Franchise
How did ‘The Bachelor’ Ben Higgins meet fiance, Jessica Clarke?
Higgins’ time on The Bachelor did not lead to lasting love — although he went on the show three times. However, Clarke disagrees. She feels that he had to go through the show to become the person he is today, and meet her. Higgins met Clarke by sliding into her Instagram DMs in late 2018. The couple went official with their relationship in February 2019.
Higgins and Clarke were engaged on March 27, 2020, during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Higgins planned to propose in Central Park in New York City; however, the shutdown uprooted those plans. Instead, he popped the question in Clarke’s parents’ backyard by a gorgeous pond.
The 24-year-old is an avid runner and competed on the University of Mississippi’s women’s track and field and cross-country team. She wasn’t affiliated with The Bachelor franchise until meeting Higgins.
Will ‘The Bachelor’ Ben Higgins’ fiance watch the recap of his season?
The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever! is airing three-hour-long recaps of fan-favorite seasons every Monday this summer. Last week, Kaitlyn Bristowe watched her episode with her boyfriend’s mother. Although she is no longer with the person she chose, Shawn Booth, her current beau — Jason Tartick — attempted to watch with her as well. He made it through about 55 minutes before calling it quits.
Clarke has a very different take on watching her fiance’s episode. She knows her limits and boundaries.
“I probably will not,” she answered an Instagram message about whether she will watch Higgins’ season by posting to her story. “I am so thankful that Ben did the show because he wouldn’t be the man I am marrying without it, and I’m confident about that, but I think that watching it would lead me to compare myself in unhealthy and unnecessary ways. It’s not really natural to watch the person you love date other people.”
Did Clarke just call out the entire premise of the franchise as unnatural? She knows exactly why there is so much drama in Bachelor Nation. It’s not normal to watch the person you like or love date someone else.
Fans support Higgins’ fiance’s decision not to watch his season
“She’s very insightful and self-aware,” one Reddit user wrote. “This is such a refreshing and healthy approach.”
Fans respect Clarke’s decision and admit that it makes so much sense. It isn’t reasonable to watch your fiance kiss other people.
“To be honest, I already like Jess more than half the people in this franchise,” another Redditor added. “She seems really self-aware and knows what she wants in a relationship. I really respect that.”
The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever! will air Higgins recap episode on June 22, 2020, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. Clarke did admit that she will join Higgins when he gives an update on his season even though she won’t be watching.
