‘The Bachelor’: Chris Harrison Got Mad At Colton For Working Out With Cassie’s Sister’s Boyfriend Before The Finale Aired
Colton Underwood had a particularly dramatic finale for his season of The Bachelor. He professed his love (a couple episodes early) for Cassie Randolph only to have her respond by leaving the show. He jumped an eight-foot fence to get away from the production team and clear his head. He returned only to break up with the remaining two contestants, Hannah Godwin and Tayshia Adams, and put all of his focus into winning Cassie back. It worked. The two took the remainder of the show at their own pace and today they seem to be incredibly happy and in love.
But when those finale episodes were airing, Colton and Cassie received a lot of criticism from fans. Many fans thought Colton was making a huge mistake fighting for Cassie who, at the time, seemed to just not be interested in Colton. But he knew if he could cancel out the pressure of the show, the two could have a shot. Bachelor Nation, however, was skeptical.
Everyone was weighing in on how Colton and Cassie handled those final episodes (as is the case when one goes on national TV to find love).
“It’s very clear that she was not into him,” Former Bachelor Ben Higgens told Entertainment Tonight back in March. “And so as much as she maybe felt the pressure to still be there and just still try to make this work — you know, you have a lot of people counting on you and watching — I think all she wanted to tell him was, ‘You’re a great guy, you’ve proven to be a great guy, but I’m just not that into you and as a result, I need to leave.’ It felt like she was kind of dancing around the subject, going, ‘This is too fast, this isn’t right for me, I just don’t know.’ She knew.”
Colton was caught working out with Cassie’s sister’s boyfriend
In the midst of all the drama, as the final episodes were airing, Colton was spotted hitting the gym with Cassie’s sister’s boyfriend, actor Gregg Sulkin.
Colton says he knew he shouldn’t have been working out with Gregg, but he was tired of all the criticism and was ready to publically love Cassie and prove that he made the right decision.
“The ending was getting tough on me too, because there was a week for people to sit in our break up, to criticize her and me and what I was doing. So, I was just like, ‘Screw this! I’m over it. I just want to love you and I want to be with you. I don’t care what’s on TV right now, I just want to be with you,” he told ET.
He was even scolded by Chris Harrison.
“To be honest, I think Chris [Harrison] might have even texted me… ‘Dude, really?’… I know I probably shouldn’t have been working out with him,” Colton confessed. Cassie added that she was upset at Colton at the time for possibly “[ruining] it at the very end.”
