‘The Bachelor’: Colton Underwood Admits He and Cassie Randolph Had Disagreements About Their Social Media Activity

Bachelor couple Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph announced on May 29 that they had broken up.

“Its been a crazy few months to say the least, Cass and I have been doing a lot of self-reflecting. Sometimes people are just meant to be friends – and that’s okay. We both have grown immensely and been through so much together – so this isn’t the end of our story, it’s the start of a whole new chapter for us,” wrote Underwood on Instagram.

Where many Bachelor couples copy and paste the same statement into their social media breakup posts, Randolph penned her own caption.

“First off, I want to say this is one of the hardest things I have had to share as neither one of us is quite ready to talk about it yet. However, because our relationship is such a public one, our silence on the matter has been speaking for us. Colton and I have broken up, but have decided to remain a part of each others lives. With all that we have gone through, we have a special bond that will always be there. I love Colton very much and have an enormous amount of respect for him. We have both learned and grown so much these past couple years, and will always have each others back. Always,” she wrote.

Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph’s first breakup

This isn’t the first time Randolph and Underwood have broken up, but this is the first time that they’ve announced it. In his book, The First Time: Finding Myself and Looking for Love on Reality TV, Underwood reveals that he and Randolph broke up briefly last year. But they worked through their issues and got back together.

In an interview Underwood did with Entertainment Tonight back in March, he reflected on the issues that tore him and Randolph apart the first time.

“I put a lot of pressure on our relationship when I was always defending it or I was overcompensating and trying too hard. I was almost pushing her away by trying to bring her closer,” he said. “I was saying, ‘No, we’ll be fine. We’ll be engaged by this date. We’ll do this, we’ll do this, we’ll do this.’ And it was sort of overwhelming her all over again.”

Colton Underwood didn’t like some of Cassie Randolph’s interview responses and social media activity

Underwood also spoke about feeling upset over some of Randolph’s social media activity and interview answers.

“[I said things] like, ‘We need to talk about this. You can’t just, like, go out in the media and say this,’ or ‘You can’t just tweet about this or Instagram like this without communicating and talking with me,'” he said.

Additionally, Underwood said, at the time, they’d been living two separate lives, something that’s been reported of their relationship prior to their most recent breakup as well.

“She was doing a lot of things on her own and I was doing things on my own and we forgot what made us so strong together was that communication and working through problems together… being there for one another and being a team,” he said.
