‘The Bachelor’: Why Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph Aren’t Engaged Yet

At the end of most seasons of The Bachelor, the star of the show gets engaged to his top pick. However, The Bachelor season 23 didn’t end that way. As of this writing, Colton Underwood is still not engaged to Cassie Randolph. Instead of leaving the show with a fiancée, he left with a girlfriend. That doesn’t make for exciting TV, so The Bachelor producers had to jazz things up a bit with an overrated fence jump, extended After the Final Rose interviews, and unnecessary drama. Why isn’t Colton engaged yet?

The Bachelor contestant Tayshia Adams warned Colton Cassie wasn’t ready

Thankful. Since the moment I stepped into the Mansion, to being greeted so warmly on stage last night, the one true emotion I have felt throughout this journey is Thankful. I don’t think people understand the magnitude of vulnerability and faith this journey requires. I have always been a private person; I came into this experience having had my heart broken in the past, and only letting the closest ones to me in on what happened. So it was tough for me to go into this journey of looking for love again and publicly displaying every intimate detail of that relationship for everyone to not only see, but criticize. But looking back, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have proven to myself that I have a lot to offer, I do deserve to be happy, in love, and to have someone fight for me. And although it wasn’t me at the end, I walk away from this experience choosing ME. As I stated last night, I have created memories that I will forever cherish, and I’m extremely thankful for everyone that has had a hand in my journey. The support, advice and encouragement I’ve received from you all has meant more to me than you will ever know. I cant wait for this next phase of my life because I am happier than I’ve ever been, and my heart is so full knowing that God has someone special out there for me that will give me the unconditional love that I deserve. Look out world, Tayshia 2.0 is comin for ya! Cheers to a truly unforgettable experience. To LOVE!!

Although Colton was warned by several contestants, one of them being Tayshia Adams, about Cassie not being ready for an engagement, he still reacted with shock, surprise, and anger after Cassie initially rejected him. Colton got fair warning but chose to rely on his gut and go on a campaign to convince Cassie to be with him. His refusal to back down finally convinced Cassie to give in and try dating instead of rushing into an engagement.

Why Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph aren’t engaged yet

Colton was ready to get engaged to someone by the end of the show, but Cassie got cold feet. The main reason the couple isn’t engaged is because she didn’t feel like she had enough time to make a decision. Cassie came to this realization after having a heart-to-heart with her father, who made a surprise (scripted?) visit to her hotel room during her Portugal trip.

Despite knowing all along that she would only have about two months to accept a proposal if she got to the final rounds, Cassie decided it was too quick, so she changed her mind. As of this writing, Cassie is still taking things slow and setting the pace for her relationship with Colton. In various media interviews, she says she’s open to getting married one day, but she wants to take her time right now.

Did Cassie really just want the fame, not the ring?

Not everyone is buying Cassie’s story. Some contestants on The Bachelor season 23 said they overheard Cassie talking about possibly becoming the next star of The Bachelorette. There were contestants who thought her presence on the show was just for media attention. However, Cassie tearfully denied those rumors after she was pulled aside by Colton during one episode. She told him she really was there for the right reasons and she had no desire to become The Bachelorette star.

Does Colton Underwood really love Cassie Randolph?

We could be wrong, but Colton’s love for Cassie doesn’t seem genuine. The former football player repeatedly said he is in love with Cassie and would do anything to get her back after she left him the first time. He was crying, distraught, and made a vow not to give up fighting for her. This might tug at your heart strings, but we don’t think it’s true love. Colton comes from a sports background, so he’s likely used to operating from a mindset of winning at all costs. This way of thinking might have affected the way he approaches dating. Winning might have been all that was important to him. If Cassie walked away and he couldn’t get her back, this would have been the ultimate loss for him—in front of millions of TV viewers.
