‘The Bachelor’: Does Rachel Lindsay Accept Chris Harrison’s Apology?
The future of Bachelor Nation has been up in the air since host Chris Harrison revealed that he was taking a break from The Bachelor. The break came after Harrison’s interview with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, where he defended contestant Rachael Kirkconnell for attending a plantation party. Now, Harrison has apologized several times. But does Lindsay forgive him?
What did Chris Harrison say in the interview?
Photos of Kirkconnell at an antebellum party had been surfacing throughout Matt James’ entire season, however Kirkconnell was slow to address them. When she failed to speak up, Harrison defended her by saying that attending antebellum parties in 2018 wasn’t as bad as it is now.
“Is it a good look in 2018 or is it not a good look in 2021?” he said. “I don’t disagree with you. You’re 100 percent right — in 2021. That was not the case in 2018. Again, I’m not defending Rachael. I just know, I don’t know, 50 million people did that in 2018… that was a type of party that a lot of people went to.”
After the interview was met with extreme backlash from Bachelor fans, Harrison announced that he was taking a break from filming and would not attend the After the Final Rose ceremony.

“I am an imperfect man, I made a mistake and I own that,” he said. “I believe that mistake doesn’t reflect who I am or what I stand for. I am committed to progress, not just for myself, also for the franchise. And this is a franchise that has been a part of my life for the better part of 20 years and I love it.”
He also revealed that he planned on returning to his role.
“I plan to be back and I want to be back. And I think this franchise can be an important beacon of change,” he continued. “I know that change is felt, not just by me, but by many others. And we are excited and willing to do the work to show that progress.”
Does Rachel Lindsay forgive Chris Harrison?
After speaking out against Harrison’s defense of Kirkconnell’s actions, Lindsay was bullied so much that she deactivated her Instagram. She has been one of the members of Bachelor Nation who was the most affected by Harrison’s actions, so when he apologized, people were eager to see how she felt about it.
“I do accept the apology, Billy, and I think it’s important for me to say that because I haven’t really talked about, you know, Chris and the statement because I’m not trying to make this a Chris-versus-Rachel,” she said in an interview with Extra. “But the fact that, once again, you know — this isn’t the first time he’s apologized to me — he apologized again on GMA today and I do accept that and I think it’s important for me to say that because we need to move forward.”
