‘The Bachelor’ Fans Feel Forced to Watch New Spin-Off ‘Listen to Your Heart’
Peter Weber‘s season of The Bachelor is finally ending on Mar. 9 and 10, 2020; however, ABC is giving fans a new show to watch while they wait for The Bachelorette to begin. The Bachelor Presents Listen to Your Heart promises to have the same amount of love and drama, with a musical twist to it. However, some fans feel forced to watch the new spin-off, and they are not happy about it.
What is ‘The Bachelor Presents Listen to Your Heart?’
Chris Harrison will be hosting yet another Bachelor series beginning Apr. 13, 2020. The Bachelor Presents Listen to Your Heart combines everything fans love about The Bachelor with an American Idol spin to it.
The mini-series will bring ten women and ten men together to compete in challenges and go on dates. They will sing well-known singles together and separately throughout the season. The performances will be judged by names such as the Bachelorette couple JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers.
Several of the men and women admit that they have never dated another musician, but they are excited to give it a try.
“There’s no deeper and fun way to connect with someone than music,” Gabe says during the promo for Listen to Your Heart.
The promo is exciting to those who are fully invested in all things Bachelor; however, some fans are not happy.
Some fans of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ feel sucked into watching ‘Listen to Your Heart’
“Won’t they be using people from that show for BIP?” asked one fan on Reddit. “I don’t want to watch it either, but I want to be able to know all the backstory for Paradise.”
BIP Season 7 will premiere in August 2020 with a cast of previous contestants from all of the related Bachelor and Bachelorette shows. Therefore, men and women from Listen to Your Heart will likely join BIP this year.
“That’s exactly what it is — we are going to be lost if we don’t watch it because you know these people are going to show up on Paradise,” another Redditor added.
Many fans feel they need to have a full background on those individuals who join the BIP cast, so they believe the Bachelor producers are forcing them to watch this new show.
“I’m definitely watching this regardless of how much I wish I wouldn’t,” another fan wrote.
Other fans know they do not have to watch ‘Listen to Your Heart’ to understand ‘BIP’
“I just can’t bring myself to care enough about this show to sit through it for the chance to get to know the couple people who will be on Paradise,” one viewer countered on Reddit. “I’ve never had issues connecting the dots on the couple people from earlier seasons I never watched.”
There are two schools of thought with the yearly season of BIP. One group of fans believe they need to watch every previous season and episode to have full backgrounds on all of the contestants. However, other fans think that it’s okay not to know everything.
“I have skipped whole seasons and been fine watching BIP,” another Redditor added. “In fact, usually, the best people in BIP are either entirely different than their original edit or got no time the first time around. So it is almost better to start with a clean slate.”
It sounds like viewers do not need to watch Listen to Your Heart to catch the background story on their future BIP contestants. However, some will tune in anyway. The Bachelor Presents Listen to Your Heart will debut on Apr. 13, 2020, from 8 pm to 10 pm ET on ABC.
