‘The Bachelor’: Hannah Ann Sluss Doesn’t Consider Herself a Runner Up
Hannah Ann Sluss may have “won” Peter Weber‘s season of The Bachelor, but she also had her heart broken. Despite Weber calling off their engagement and choosing to pursue a relationship with Madison Prewett during the live Bachelor finale — much to the dismay of Barbara Weber — Sluss doesn’t consider herself a winner, a loser, or even a runner-up! Here’s why.
What happened after Peter Weber proposed
Sluss was a guest on former Bachelor Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files, where she revealed everything that happened between her and Weber after he proposed. They spent a few additional days in Australia “hiding out” in what Viall dubbed a “happy couple weekend.” Sluss explained how she and Weber got to know one another, starting with the basics. Sluss listed some of the things they discussed, which included favorite foods, plans for the future, and the exchange of cell phone numbers.
Hannah Ann Sluss learned about herself on ‘The Bachelor’
When Viall asked if this was the best-case scenario for Sluss, she said: “This is the best-case scenario because no one needs to be with someone that’s not going to give them their full heart. So yes, I believe I walked away being in the best spot because Peter wasn’t all the way there with me.”
Sluss conceded how much personal experience she gained from being on The Bachelor. Thanks to her experience on the show, Sluss says she’s able to focus on “finding [herself] more and learning more of who [she is] and what [she] want[s].”
Hannah Ann doesn’t consider herself a winner or a loser
As Viall pointed out in the podcast, there “technically wasn’t a runner-up this season,” but Sluss explained why she didn’t consider herself a winner or a loser. Despite technically coming in second place when the show concluded, Sluss doesn’t see herself as “being a winner or a runner-up.”
“I think the term winning is kind of [misconstrued] at times,” Sluss explained. She added: “For me, it wasn’t about winning. It was winning Peter’s heart and spending forever with him. So if that’s winning to people, then no, I guess I was a runner-up to that.”
Peter Weber seems to have moved on
The former Bachelor has quarantined with Chicagoan Kelley Flanagan, but Sluss isn’t surprised. As she told David Spade:
You know, I mean, I’ve moved on, Peter’s moved on; we’re both able to do what we want. And also, in regards to Kelley, I met her through the show, so we were friends, and we were dating the same guy, so me seeing her with someone that I had dated, it doesn’t really maybe make me as upset if it wasn’t for any other circumstance, you know? I mean, they can choose to do what they want to do. I’m just glad that I’m out of, like, the love triangle…square. It’s square now.Hannah Ann Sluss, Lights Out LIVE from the BUNKER
What’s next for Hannah Ann? Bachelor Nation was buzzing with rumors of Sluss returning to the series for Bachelor in Paradise. But with many shows suspending production due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), it looks like Sluss will have plenty of time to get comfortable in her new California home.
