‘The Bachelor’: Is This the Real Reason Colton Picked Cassie over Hannah G.?

Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph fell in love on The Bachelor and are still dating. However, Randolph wasn’t always the frontrunner on his season.

Hannah Godwin had a strong connection with the former football player and made it pretty far. He ended up sending her home but why? Here is a new theory from an ABC executive.

Hannah Godwin was a frontrunner on Colton Underwood’s season but Cassie Randolph won

Godwin had a strong start on Underwood’s season by winning the first impression rose. She talked about how the other ladies reacted to that.

I think people were pretty supportive, that I know of,” she said on the podcast, Mouthing Off. “If they were talking about it behind my back it was like way behind my back because I didn’t hear it and I also just didn’t care. I was just like ‘you know what, I’m just gonna be friends with all of you guys, this is gonna be a weird thing, whatever.’ I think a lot of the girls ended up being like ‘Oh my gosh congrats’ or something. It was good vibes,” she said.

Godwin did manage to stay out of the drama and it seemed like she might get the final rose. However, Underwood decided to turn her down along with the other remaining ladies and try to win Randolph back when she left the show. An ABC executive gave his theory of what could have changed Randolph’s mind.

Robert Mills said Randolph’s father disapproval of Underwood might have been a turning point

The SVP Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming for ABC Entertainment, Robert Mills talked about being surprised that Underwood ended up picking Randolph. Many expected Godwin was going to win.

Mills was on the podcast Bachelor Party when he was asked if he thought Underwood was going to pick Godwin. “Yes,” he said. “I just saw Colton and Cassie a couple [of] weeks ago” and he said they’re “totally in love.” However, Mills expected a different outcome at one point.

“I think the reason Arie [Luyendyk Jr.] picked Becca [Kufrin] was because that boyfriend came back and it made him competitive, I guess that’s what you’d call it,” explained Mills. He said a similar thing might have happened last season with, “I guess Colton was competing with her father.”

He added, “That changed the dynamic with the Cassie thing. I think other than that it was Hannah.”

He claimed Godwin was bitter after the show

Godwin was one of the many girls being considered for The Bachelorette. Mills revealed that even then Godwin wasn’t over Underwood.

“When I sat with Hannah G. I liked her a lot and I thought that she was really sincere and was great,” he said before noting that she “was still bitter about the way how Colton ended it.”

He explained exactly what she didn’t like about the situation. “You know what Hannah was really upset about she said, ‘The guy just said goodbye and didn’t give me a chance to f*ck it up’ which literally her words. That’s what she said.”

Godwin might get another chance to find love on Bachelor in Paradise. The cast for the new season has yet to be announced.
