‘The Bachelor’: How Lauren Burnham and Arie Luyendyk Jr. Realized They’re Expecting Their First Child
Life after The Bachelor and The Bachelorette isn’t easy. Even the couples who managed to last for years after the show are still splitting up. But Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are still making it work despite the shocking ending to Season 22. The two are expecting their first child and are getting married in 2019. Here is everything you need to know including how they found out they’re expecting.
A friend got Lauren Burnham a pregnancy test because she thought she was pregnant
The Bachelor couple got a little help when Lauren Burnham suspected that she might be pregnant. “I kind of had a feeling that I might be pregnant. So my friend insisted on bringing a pregnancy test over,” Burnham said according to TV Guide. “Arie came out with the test in his hand and tears in his eyes. He was like, ‘You’re pregnant!'”
The two have started to predict what kind of parents they’ll be. Luyendyk Jr. said he’ll be “such a softie” with the baby according to Us Weekly. He added, “Lauren is a little bit more of the disciplinarian.” Burnham then chimed in “We’re kind of basing it off of how we parent our dogs!”
Lauren Burnham and Arie Luyendyk Jr. are getting married in Hawaii on Jan. 12
The engaged couple has been living together and planning their wedding since the show. They are getting married in Hawaii and announced their plans on The View. “We are very excited to tell you guys that we have booked a venue,” said Burnham. “We’re getting married in Hawaii on January 12th next year!”
The groom also revealed that the wedding will go against the traditional beach wedding. “It’s in Maui — it’s at Haiku Mill which has this beautiful, old world feel with a lot of vines and greenery,” he said. “It’s not your typical beach wedding.”
Fans will sadly have to stick to social media for their wedding updates. Arie Lyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham’s wedding won’t be televised. “And it’s a private wedding so not on TV. Just, you know, a close group of friends. Probably 100 guests,” added the expecting father. This reportedly goes against what the reality stars were hoping for initially.
A source told E! News that the two was “heavily pushing” for a televised wedding. “They want everything to happen quickly and show the world how real their love is,” a source claimed.
That’s probably because Season 22 of The Bachelor had an upsetting ending. Arie Lyendyk Jr. originally picked Becca Kufrin at the end of the season. But in the same finale, he broke up with her on camera and revealed that he still had feelings for runner-up Lauren Burnham. Kufrin went on to star as The Bachelorette.
