‘The Bachelor’: Peter Weber Denies That Barbara Weber Is the Reason His Relationship With Madison Prewett Ended
Just three days after The Bachelor ended, Peter Weber and Madison Prewett announced they mutually decided not to pursue a relationship. Many speculated this was because of Barbara Weber’s dislike of Prewett, but Peter Weber recently told a reporter this is not the case.
The finale of ‘The Bachelor’ was dramatic
During the finale of The Bachelor, Prewett left the show before the final rose ceremony. Peter Weber then proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss, but the engagement did not last until the “After the Final Rose” special.
Chris Harrison then flew to Auburn to talk to Prewett and let her know Peter Weber ended his engagement. Prewett admitted she still had feelings for Peter Weber, and she flew out to California to see him. The two then reconnected again during the taping of “After the Final Rose.”
During this segment, Barbara Weber made it clear that she preferred Sluss, and that everyone in Peter Weber’s life knew the relationship with Prewett would not work out. The finale of The Bachelor ended with a lot of tension, as it was clear Peter Weber’s family would not be accepting of the relationship.
Peter and Madison did not pursue a relationship
After a few days of silence on social media, both Prewett and Peter Weber announced on Instagram that they would not continue their relationship.
“Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further. Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure,” Peter Weber wrote on Instagram.
Prewett wrote a similar message to Peter Weber on her own Instagram page.
“As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things. I will always love and respect him. I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did. @pilot_pete you are an amazing guy and I’m thankful for you. I will always be your biggest fan. And to the amazing women I met this season, I will love you for life. Thank you @abcnetwork for allowing me to embark on this journey,” she wrote.
Fans of ‘The Bachelor’ blamed Barbara for Peter and Madison’s breakup
Because of what was said during the finale, fans of The Bachelor were quick to blame Barbara Weber for the relationship not working out. After the two announced their breakup, Barbara Weber posted a video of her dancing to “Leaving on a Jet Plane” on Instagram.
“It’s all Barb’s fault,” one fan tweeted.
“After the way his mother acted on national TV the other night, no woman with a brain (or any amount of self worth) could pursue anything with Peter. Sucky thing is, Barb prob counts this as a win. So sad, and appallingly toxic. Peter has some growing to do for sure,” a fan wrote on Twitter.
Peter denies that it’s his mother’s fault
After announcing his breakup with Prewett, Peter Weber was asked about Barbara Weber’s role in the breakup by TMZ.
“No. This is stuff between Madi and I, solely, 100 percent. And people have their opinions, but this is just between the two of us, and it’s just mutual respect and love. That’s all,” he said.
