‘The Bachelor’: Will Peter Weber’s Terrible Injury Affect Filming?

It’s been less than a month since the Bachelor In Paradise reunion show aired and Peter Weber was officially announced as the next lead of The Bachelor. While most of Bachelor Nation was devastated that fan favorite, Mike Johnson wasn’t offered the role, and flabbergasted to learn that Tyler Cameron had turned down the part, they seemed to believe that Weber also deserved a shot a love. Though people seem less enthused by Weber as a choice for The Bachelor, he did appear charming and sweet on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette.

Weber’s time on The Bachelorette

Hailing from Westlake Village, CA, Weber comes from a family of pilots and is, of course, a pilot himself. Pilot Pete caught the eye of Brown with his sweet demeanor and charming humor. During Brown’s season, he famously asked the Alabama native to be his girlfriend and earned quite the reputation for his stamina after he was revealed to be the man in the windmill with Brown. Furthermore, Bachelor Nation was also charmed by his parents, who seemed just as kind and wholesome as Weber himself. His personality quickly earned himself a spot in Brown’s top three.

But Weber isn’t entirely squeaky clean. Some fans of The Bachelor questioned his true motives after an ex-girlfriend revealed that he’d broken off a loving relationship with her merely to go on the show. Others were put off by the fact that Weber had auditioned to be on the show repeatedly. This led fans to question whether he was looking for love or just looking to get on TV and earn his 15 minutes of fame. While these things might be red flags and may have been talking points during After The Final Rose, discourse regarding the behavior of both Luke Parker and Jed Wyatt managed to overshadow it.

Peter Weber is thrilled about being the bachelor

For his part, Weber seemed to be thrilled by the opportunity to be the bachelor. “It’s still hitting me right now, and I feel so grateful right now just to have this opportunity in front of me. I feel emotional right now. This is crazy. This is life-changing. I have truly, my entire life, looked forward to finding my girl, and that first person that I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with. I have all the faith in the world that this can work for me, and I know it’s going to,” Weber said confidently during the Bachelor in Paradise finale.

Peter Weber suffers an injury and undergoes emergency surgery

Unfortunately, Weber’s quest to find love may have been temporarily waylaid. According to People, Weber recently underwent emergency surgery after splitting his face open. While playing golf in Costa Rica, Weber allegedly went to step on a golf cart and slipped. The slip resulted in him falling and hitting his head on the cocktail glasses he was carrying. The injury caused him to be rushed to the hospital for an emergency operation that required a whopping 22 stitches. Thankfully, the bachelor is on the mend and is reportedly pulling through.

How will this affect The Bachelor 2020

But how will this awful accident affect filming, if at all? Well, as the incident occurred one day before The Bachelor contestants were due to arrive in Costa Rica, there are likely going to be some delays in filming. However, as the first few episodes have already been shot, it might not affect when the show premieres provided Weber is truly on the mend. We wish Weber a speedy recovery and hope that his future wife is able to provide him with some comfort or support during this difficult time.
