‘The Bachelor’: Peter Weber Keeps Breaking This One Rule Ben Higgins Stuck To No Matter What
It’s no secret that the bachelor is kissing multiple women as he tries to narrow 30 contestants down to one. However, Peter Weber’s season started with the most kisses ever — he locked lips with seven different women during the three-hour season premiere. Pilot Pete kissed four women on night one — also the most in The Bachelor history.
Let’s take a look at the one cardinal rule he is breaking more than any other past bachelor or bachelorette. As you might have guessed, it has to do with all of that kissing.

Why was the Cosmopolitan competition group date so ‘awkward’ and ‘vicious?’
In episode 5, Weber takes ten ladies on a date to a gorgeous waterfall. However, in traditional Bachelor fashion, there is a contest involved. The women can choose a bathing suit for a Cosmo photo shoot. The winner gets to be on the cover of the March issue of the magazine with Weber.
One of the guest stars on the show — Jess Ambrose from Chatty Broads Podcast — agreed. However, she feels that the contest fits right in with the catty feeling of the mansion this season.
“This date was very on-brand to what has been going on,” Ambrose replied to Higgins. “Let’s make it a competition about the girl that gets to be on the cover of Cosmopolitan. That’s vicious.”
Not only were the girls superficially pitted against each other, yet again, but they watch as Weber kissed — who Higgins describes as — the pilot’s “favorite girls.”
Why can’t you kiss someone in front of the other contestants?
One of the notes the producers give individuals who go on the show is that they shouldn’t kiss the bachelor in front of the other women. That’s why you hear, “Can I steal you for a second?” so often.
“I did a lot of things wrong during my time as the bachelor,” Higgins admitted. “I had one rule that I stuck to. Don’t kiss any contestants in front of the other contestants. Ever. Like no matter what the scenario. Never do that.”
Higgins says that it causes drama when you start kissing women in front of the other women.
“He was kissing the favorites,” he adds about Weber. “Of course, it’s going to spark issues. I don’t know how you do that.”
During the Cosmo competition, Weber kissed Hannah Ann, and Victoria F., who some say are front-runners. However, the pilot admits that it was awkward.
“Very weird,” Weber describes kissing in front of other contestants to Cosmopolitan. “I wasn’t ready for that. I try my best to show each woman that they’re my only relationship in that moment, but it’s weird and awkward.”
Have other bachelors/bachelorettes broken the kissing rule?
Weber isn’t the first one to break the cardinal rule. Also, we have to note that — at least this time — it was Hannah Ann and Victoria F. who initiated the kissing.
During Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor, Demi Burnett boldly kissed the lead in front of everyone else. Bachelor In Paradise alum, Wells Adams, called her out in an interview with ET.
“You’re not supposed to make out with the lead in front of everybody else,” Adams explained to ET. “You’re going to make it weird for everybody else. So right when [Demi kissed Colton], I was like, ‘Oh! She did it in front of a crowd!'”
Although the rule has been broken before, it looks like Weber is setting a record for this one as well. He has kissed the most women in front of the other contestants — whether it was by his choice or not.
