Well, that’s awkward! In a recent appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, The Bachelor star Teddi Wright spilled all the details regarding her time with Clayton Echard this season. Fans watched as Teddi quickly caught the eye of Clayton in the first episode, and he even gave her the coveted First Impression Rose. However, as their time together on the show continued, Teddi’s feelings for Clayton grew deeper, whereas his did not. Clayton ultimately sent Teddi home during their time in Vienna. Now, Teddi’s ready to discuss some of the moments fans didn’t see on their television screens.

‘Bachelor’ star Teddi Wright was open about her virginity with Clayton Echard
Despite receiving the First Impression Rose, Bachelor stars Teddi and Clayton didn’t go on a one-on-one date together until much later. During the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Teddi told hosts Becca Kufrin and Serena Pitt at first she felt like the First Impression Rose put a target on her back. Fortunately, this didn’t get in the way of her one-on-one date with Clayton.
During their time together, Teddi and Clayton touched on some personal topics, including Teddi’s decision to wait until marriage for sex. However, Teddi’s confession didn’t shock the audience nearly as much as Clayton’s response.
Clayton Echard’s response to Teddi Wright’s confession about her virginity puzzled audiences
This season of The Bachelor with Clayton Echard has certainly had its memorable moments. (Do we need to remind anyone about “Shrimpgate?”) However, Clayton’s response to learning about Teddi’s virginity caused plenty of fans to scratch their heads.
Bachelor star Teddi got candid with Becca and Serene and said, “I was worried what his reaction would be. It’s something that I’m really open about and I knew if he didn’t respond well we would have to part ways. A lot of people did get on him because he made a weird comment and said ‘Well, you don’t remind me of a virgin.’ That was really weird.”
While no one is sure how someone could “remind Clayton of a virgin,” he, apparently, continued to dig himself deeper into a hole.
Teddi explained, “He asked a lot of questions and they were all very future-focused in that moment. Like, ‘what would you do differently if we had kids?’ I did have a lot of pressure growing up on my virginity. It was faith-based but it also was just that my mom had a child at a young age, my sister had a child at a young age. My mom was definitely stricter with me. I think we just talked about how I would do things differently as a mom. So, he asked ‘if we have sex, is your mom going to hate me?'”
She continued, “I will give him credit because I think there’s a stereotype of a virgin; I am very sexual and I like to talk about it, and I don’t mind that. I don’t think that’s really normal for virgins, at least what society sees. You see us making out in every episode, so I understand why he was shocked.”
Teddi Wright shed some tears when reflecting on her relationship with Clayton Echard during ‘The Bachelor: Women Tell All’
Teddi’s elimination disappointed plenty of fans as she quickly became one of the fan favorites on this season of The Bachelor. The surgical nurse tried to remain stoic when host Jesse Palmer pulled her onto the hot seat during the ‘Women Tell All,’ but rewatching hers and Clayton’s time together caused her to cry.
“I did not think I was going to get emotional. Just seeing how it started out, and it was so strong. And I think we both felt right away that this could end in an engagement.”
However, as Bachelor Nation knows, just because Teddi and Clayton didn’t get engaged, that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of her. There’s always a chance she could be the next Bachelorette or even spend some time with other members of Bachelor Nation on Bachelor in Paradise. Either way, fans won’t be mad about seeing Teddi return to The Bachelor franchise.
