‘The Bachelorette’: Chris Harrison Finally Addresses Rumors That Clare Crawley Was Forced to Quit the Show

Clare Crawley has changed the course of this season of The Bachelorette. By falling in love with Dale Moss basically on night one, she kind of ruined the need for a competition. When Crawley fell in love, she was replaced with Tayshia Adams. But now, some fans and Bachelor experts are saying that the switch happened too smoothly and are accusing the franchise of planning on switching Crawley out the whole time. Now, Harrison has addressed those rumors.

Reality Steve thinks the switch was always a part of the plan

The show has never had to replace a Bachelorette midseason before. And this year was a particularly rough time to search for a replacement as with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic raging, anyone on set had to quarantine before being allowed to film. So, switching Crawley out should have been an extremely difficult task. But for some reason, it seemed to all work out perfectly. Bachelorette expert Reality Steve thinks it’s because production was always planning on switching Crawley out.

“In reality, they knew what was happening the whole time,” he wrote. “It wasn’t even Clare’s decision to end the show with Dale. It was production’s. They were the ones that went to HER bringing up the scenario of basically, ‘what do you think of ending this now with Dale.’ They both agreed and, whaddya’ know, they already have Tayshia there on standby.”

According to Steve, the timing of everything is the key tell.

“Based on the timing of when we heard Tayshia was headed to La Quinta to begin quarantine then film (it was nine days after Clare’s first night), I can report to you that this was in productions plan before Clare’s season started,” he wrote. “They knew Clare would be removed at some point during this season and replaced as the Bachelorette by Tayshia. Did Clare know? No. Did the guys know? No. But production sure as h*ll did.”

Did production force Clare Crawley out?

Allegations like Steve’s would mean that production at least guided Crawley into quitting. But now, Harrison has spoken with Entertainment Tonight to say that all of the decisions this season were made by Crawley.

“I would just say she has complete control,” Harrison told the outlet. “This season of The Bachelorette was completely about Clare. It’s all about Clare, and she will decide where we go from here. It’s totally, completely up to her.”

Harrison also assured fans that he did not go into the season already thinking about plan B or what to do in this sort of emergency.

“It was all really about Plan A, and it was all about, ‘What do we do with this season with Clare, and where do we go with that?'” he said. “Really, it was about Clare and her decisions. It’s her decisions that you’re gonna see — well, you saw obviously, in Tuesday’s episode.”

Harrison claimed that he gave Crawley full reign to move forward with the men how she wanted to.

“I really put it in her court, it is completely up to her,” he continued.”And while I’m saying that, it really is something that you’re all gonna need to see next week… I like for you to see everything and then you can judge, but in my humble opinion, I really feel like you’ll see next week, it’s her call where we go from here.”
