‘The Bachelorette’: Chris Harrison Reveals Why So Much Of The Season Is About Luke P.
Luke P. is a hot topic on The Bachelorette. Hannah Brown’s spent a lot of time considering whether or not to keep the polarizing contestant around, and the men spend a lot of time talking about him, both to each other and in an attempt to warn Hannah.
Hannah, however, has always said that she wants to make her decisions about Luke P. all by herself–she doesn’t want to be too influenced by anyone.
“There definitely is chemistry between Luke P. and I,” she told ET. “And that is something that is worth looking into. My chemistry with him is maybe much stronger than with somebody else, other men there. That’s something I’m going to investigate while my feelings are that way even if he does have issues in the house. I just have to figure out exactly where those issues are rooted. But I’m not like a viewer and getting to see all the different things that are happening in the house. Our relationship is a big part of my journey and how I decide to really just trust my gut and how I feel about our relationship and what I do to decide how I want to continue.”
Because so much of the season has centered around drama involving Luke P., fans are starting to get tired of the controversial contestant.
Chris Harrison recently told ET’s Lauren Zima that Luke P. is the most prominent villain the show’s ever had.
“We’ve never had a season where a villain — if you want to call Luke that — has such a prominent role, where they really dominate the landscape and storyline for so long,” he said. “Hannah likes Luke P., and the more he gets beat on and she gets beat on, the more defensive and angry she gets.”
Why so much of the season is about Luke P.’s relationship with Hannah and the other men
The Bachelorette follows the drama, so it’s not shocking that so much of the Luke P. content made the cut. But why is there so much of it in the first place? Chris Harrison said it, largely, has to do with the fact that the men keep talking about him.
“Does that make [Luke P.] good or bad? I don’t know. But the guys just can’t stand him. This is oil and water… but there’s something there driving these guys crazy, because they know Hannah likes him and is defending him, and they think he’s fake and phony and it drives them nuts that they can’t make Hannah see that,” he said.
Why do the guys keep talking about Luke P.? The host blames it on a general lack of maturity.
“Maybe it’s a little immaturity and lack of perspective by some of these young men to realize the more you try and make it about Luke P., the more it becomes about Luke P.,” he said. “These guys, whether they knew it or not, were the ones really driving the bus towards Luke P.”
