The role of the Bachelor or Bachelorette is not an easy one to fill. At first, it may sound glamorous. Who wouldn’t want 30 attractive people pinning for them, and a wardrobe budget that rivals those of celebrities? But, there is a lot more to the position than just that.
As the lead, there is almost 24/7 surveillance on you and you aren’t really in control of your own life or schedule during the months of filming. Not to mention the fact that you are supposed to be deciding who you are going to spend the rest of your life with after only knowing your contestants for a short time.
The role can take a toll on anyone. That’s why it’s kind of surprising that while many have talked about it, no one has actually quit the show yet. But will this season’s Bachelorette, Hannah Brown, change all of that?
Brown doubts the process
Brown hasn’t had the easiest time as the Bachelorette. On night one, it came out that one of the men had a girlfriend back home and then Luke Parker pretty much took over the show and made it all about him. With all of the focus falling on Parker and his antics, Brown hasn’t had the chance to fall in love like she has wanted to.
“I don’t know if I will [get there],” she said on Monday night’s episode. “I see that there are relationships here that like, really could be it for me. But I’m not going to settle and just go into something if it’s not where it needs to be.”
Does Brown quit the show?
After hearing her reservations about her Bachelorette journey, host Chris Harrison asked Brown if she wanted to continue on the show.
“I have really lost a lot of hope, but I’m still holding onto knowing that there has got to be good that comes out of this,” she said. “It’s hard, but I don’t give up. I’m going to complain about it… but I’m going to see this thing through until the end.”
Though Brown agreed to continue on the show, she may not actually be ready for a proposal.
In the preview for next week, Harrison tells Brown that a man bought her a ring on his own because he is so ready to propose to her.
“I don’t know what to do, and I’m scared,” she says in response to the news.
Have any other Bachelors or Bachelorettes quit?
No other Bachelors or Bachelorettes have actually quit the show. That could be due to how well the Bachelor process works or it may just be because of the hefty contract that the leads have to sign before coming on the show.
Last season’s Bachelor, Colton Underwood, came as close to quitting as we have ever seen before. He chose his winner, Cassie Randolph, when there were three women left. When she rejected him, he jumped over a fence and ran away from production.
Eventually, Harrison was able to find Underwood and calm him down and the show resumed.
