‘The Bachelorette’: Jed Wyatt’s Girlfriend Admits She Feels Guilty for Helping Him Scam His Way into Hannah Brown’s Heart
Say it ain’t so, Jed.
If you haven’t been living under a rock, then you have probably heard the rumors that one of Hannah Brown’s frontrunners, Jed Wyatt, had a girlfriend up until right before he came on the show.
According to his ex, Haley Stevens, the two dated for four months, up until right before Wyatt got on the plane to head to L.A. to film The Bachelorette.
Because Wyatt said that he was just going on the show to promote his music career, Stevens decided to stay with him.
A few weeks into their relationship, Wyatt told Stevens that he was in the casting process for the show and gave her a chance to end things with him.
“He came forward, basically said, ‘I’ve been talking to my mom about this, I just don’t think there’s any way we can go forward,'” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I kind of see where this is going, and I don’t feel right not giving you the chance to walk away. I have to be upfront about it.'”
But now, Stevens feels embarrassed by the whole situation.
“Obviously, I’ve looked back on this,” she told the outlet. “I read text messages that I sent that I’m like, ‘This is embarrassing. How could I let myself be here? How could I let myself believe this?'”
“Someone told me they love me, this is what’s best for them, I trusted in that. I could never have known that this is what the situation would be. I could never have known that feelings would be involved or hearts would be broken,” Stevens continued. “I know that this story is hurtful to [Hannah Brown], and she’s feeling what I have felt, and that is not an easy thing to do or know that I’ve done. None of it’s easy. So many people are tied up in this.”
What does Stevens have to say to Brown?
In an interview with Life and Style, Stevens admitted that she was an accomplice to Wyatt’s deceit.
“We talked about it like it was a movie like these are characters,” she said of Wyatt’s plan to go on the show to promote his career. “Because I didn’t even know who it was going to be it didn’t even seem real. Now, in hindsight, I’ve seen clips and Hannah is so genuine and sincere. If I could have seen this person that I’m seeing now and how much of her heart she is putting into this show — and into these guys and the process — it could have been a different ball game.”
Now, Stevens wants to encourage Brown to remain strong.
“Now, I feel so much guilt for letting him go,” she said. “If I could say anything to Hannah it would be to hang in there … I never meant to cause anyone any hurt. It is what it is and it pretty much sucks for everyone involved. I hope that she is true to herself. She talked the whole time about knowing her worth and, man, she is a strong woman. I hope that she will keep trusting in that.”
