‘The Bachelorette’: Did Katie Thurston Have a Relationship With Blake Moynes Before He Came on the Show?

Love is in the air…hopefully for Katie Thurston. Last night, her season of The Bachelorette premiered. While Thurston seemed to make some promising love connections on the first night, there is one man who has yet to join the season. According to teasers, Blake Moynes, who has already competed for two Bachelorettes, Tayshia Adams and Clare Crawley, joins the season at some point. Did he talk to Thurston before coming on?

A flashforward to drama on ‘The Bachelorette’ 2021

The previews at the end of The Bachelorette episodes are iconic. They always show what juicy drama awaits viewers in the upcoming weeks. In the new preview, Moynes shows up holding a boom box over his head.

“I’m a little bit late to this, but Katie is the one, so I just had to show up,” Moynes says to the camera. “I know that s*it is gonna get crazy.”

Of course, anytime anyone arrives late, the other contestants aren’t too happy about it. In the preview, the other men express their frustration and the drama of it all appears to get to Thurston.

“I came here to fall in love,” she says off camera. “Do I continue here, or do I just leave now?”

“I am done, I am done, I am done,” she says later in the preview. “Someone book my f—ing flight home.”

“I am just like, heartbroken,” she cries in a confessional.

Did Katie and Blake talk before going on ‘The Bachelorette’?

This isn’t the first time that a former contestant has crashed a season claiming that they think the lead is the one for them. Heather Martin did the same on Matt James’ season of The Bachelor. She believed that James was her match because their mutual close friend, former Bachelorette Hannah Brown, said so.

In order to crash The Bachelorette, a person has to have a pretty strong belief they are the best choice for the lead. After seeing the preview, some fans wondered if Moynes had formed a connection with Thurston offscreen before crashing the season. Apparently, that was not the case, but Thurston did know who he was when he showed up.

“I definitely knew who he was, which also Tayshia’s ex-boyfriend! So that’s weird,” Thurston told Us Weekly. “We had chatted before, but usually what happens is, like, the guys will reach out to the women once they’re eliminated and be like, ‘Good luck, you did great.’ Like very generic, you know? And so to see him, I was like, ‘Why is he here?’ Like, ‘What’s happening?’”

Blake fell in love with Tayshia and Clare

Moynes made waves on Crawley and Adams’ season of The Bachelorette as he fell for both women, which made it hard for Adams to trust his feelings. Now, fans are wondering if Moynes is going to fall in love a third time on the franchise, but this time with Thurston. As we saw with Martin, there is no guarantee that Thurston will even allow Moynes to join the competition.
