‘The Bachelorette’: Luke P. Thanks His Fans For The Support ‘Amongst A World That Is Tearing [Him] Down’

Former Bachelorette contestant Luke Parker has had a rough couple of months. After exhibiting problematic behavior in his attempt to win Hannah Brown’s heart, much of the Bachelorette audience has turned completely against him.

Many women have felt triggered by the toxic relationship tendencies he’s displayed. For these viewers, the “Men Tell All” episode that took place earlier this week felt like just deserts.

During the episode, Brown explained to host Chris Harrison, Parker, the studio audience, and all of us watching at home just how much she struggled in her relationship with the controversial contestant. She said she felt shamed, controlled, manipulated, and misguided.

After the episode aired, Parker received even more backlash than he’d been experiencing throughout the season. In the days following the episode, Parker posted to Instagram about how thankful he is for the support he’s received.

“When your world seems upside down and you’re the only one fighting the fight, remember you are not alone,” he began.

“The past few months have been hard. Enduring that Men Tell All was difficult. I want to thank you all for reminding me that I am not alone, so many of you have reached out and it’s hard to get to everyone individually. With that being said please know it means so much for you guys taking the time to speak words of encouragement to me!” he wrote.

He continued: “The words you use matter, when you have the chance always build someone up especially when they are down. You never know how much they may need it! It just might be what they desperately needed amongst a world that is tearing them down. I just want to thank everyone and let you know I’m grateful for you choosing to build me up while I was down.”

Parker’s post was met with a majority of supportive comments, applauding him for maintaining his positivity.

“Glad you’re doing well and choosing to be the bigger person. Keep your goals in mind and chase them! Tunnel vision.”

“Or do wall push ups. Proud of how u have handled it man! You guys are rock stars. Looking forward to watching how God moves and uses u in the near future! #teamlukep Side note: Wondering if you can even do a wall push up?”

“So grateful for you and how much you have been a light to so many people in a time where most would have chosen not to show love and forgiveness. God is working for sure in this time and you have chosen to let Him lead. That is truly amazing!”

Even a few men from Brown’s season commented on Parker’s post.

“Hey man – I hope you’re doing well!” wrote John Paul Jones.

“Stay strong my man,” wrote Matteo Valles.

But a few Bachelorette fans also criticized the first impression rose winner.

“you guys are just FEEDING his ego. i’m sorry but i grew up around very manipulative and emotionally abusive men and luke is a prime example of that. […] do i think that luke deserved the hate that he received during the show? absolutely not. but i will not stand for a man displaying the behavior that luke has shown. just because a person claims themselves to be Christian that does not dismiss their toxic behavior and traits. actions speak louder than words. I wish him the best and hope that he gets help.”
