‘The Bachelorette’: Who is Daron Blaylock, the Frontrunner for Hannah B’s Heart?

The new season of The Bachelorette is here and we couldn’t be more excited. There will be more drama, more tears, more professions of love, and more painfully awkward breakups. Basically, it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

As Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette gears up, we have been seeing clips and previews that sort of allude to who the frontrunners of the competition are, as well as who probably isn’t there for the right reasons.

There are a few men who fans have pinpointed as potential matches for Brown. Daron Blaylock is one of them.

Who is Blaylock?

Blaylock, who is described in his Bachelorette bio as a “former college athlete and no stranger to competition,” is a former University of Kentucky football player.

Unfortunately, his time on the field didn’t go that well. After he came onto the team in 2012, they failed to win more than five games in any season that he played.

Though he didn’t do so great at Kentucky, sports runs in Blaylock’s family. He is the son of NBA player, Mookie Blaylock. His twin brother, Zack, also played football at Kentucky with him.

“Zack was really not the talkative guy,” Zack and Daron’s former Kentucky coach, Joker Phillips, told The Courier-Journal. “He’s more the shy one, and Daron’s the talker.”

Now, Blaylock works as an IT consultant.

Why is Blaylock a good match for Hannah B?

As we all know, Brown is a southern bell. She hails from Alabama and attended The University of Alabama. From the moment she first appeared on The Bachelor, she has been paying homage to her university by constantly screaming “roll tide” any chance she gets.

So, Brown and Blaylock having a love for football in common is a huge plus. In addition, Blaylock’s bio describes him as a lovable, kind guy.

“Daron may seem like a tough guy on the outside, but really, he is just a giant teddy bear,” the bio reads.

Which is completely in line with what Brown is looking for at the end of this journey.

“I would not have gone on this show if I hadn’t really thought about what was at the end of this,” she told Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Degeneres Show.

She wants someone who has a good heart and is kind and strong.

“But, ultimately, I want at the end of this to know that they know me and know every part of me, not just some version of myself that I packaged together and was like, ‘Do you like this?’ I think I’ve done that in the past, the good and the bad, and I want that in return,” she continued.

Who is competing for Brown’s heart?

In total, there are 30 men who will be vying for Brown’s attention. Originally, ABC announced 33 men but three of them were cut before filming even began.

Among the men are the usual suspects like athletes, teachers, and sales managers. And then you have the more outlandish guys, like Matteo Valles, the sperm bank donor who fathered over 100 children.

It’s safe to say this season will certainly be interesting.
