The Bates Family Just Proved They Are Just as Fertile as the Duggar Family
The Duggar family blew fans’ minds with a slew of pregnancy announcements in the spring, but they are not the only supersized family that will have several new babies joining the ranks. Their friends and fellow reality TV stars are also poised to welcome several new members to the family in the coming months. The Bates family is expecting a lot of new babies, and their latest pregnancy update proved they are just as fertile as the Duggars.
Carlin Bates just announced her honeymoon baby
Carlin Bates and her husband, Evan Stewart, didn’t waste any time expanding their family. The young couple, who married in May 2019, have announced that they are expecting their first child together. The new baby will join the family in February 2020, almost exactly nine months after their wedding date.
Carlin has already begun filling her Instagram feed with pregnancy updates, and relatable tales. Speaking to Romper, she seems to have a new respect for women who have multiple children. She told the outlet, “Even though I’m very early into my pregnancy, I already look at my mom and wonder, ‘How did you do this 19 times?’ Yet, she acted as if each pregnancy was a gift and a privilege, and that’s exactly the sentiment I want to have,”
How many Bates family members are currently expecting?
Josie Bates was the first Bates girl to announced she was expecting in 2019. She shared the news in a sweet Instagram post in February 2019. Josie and her husband Kelton married in October 2018. They welcomed their first child together, a girl named Willow, in July. Their daughter’s birth occurred almost precisely nine months after their wedding day.
Josie wasn’t the only Bates with baby news in 2019, however. Whitney Bates, who married the eldest Bates boy back in December 2013, announced that she was expecting the couple’s third child. Currently parents to Bradley and Kaci, they are expecting their new addition in the late fall. The couple suffered a miscarriage last year.
Erin Bates is also expanding her family. She and her husband, Chad Payne, announced that they would be growing by one in December 2019. The couple is already parents to Carson, 4, Brooklyn, 2, and Everly, 1, according to People.
Are the Bates and the Duggar families in a competition?
The Bates family and the Duggar family have been friends for years. In fact, the Tennessee-based Bates family were first spied by fans on the Duggar family’s reality TV show, 19 Kids and Counting. First introduced as friends of the famous family, fans couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the two.
At the time, both families were a part of the same ultra-conservative Christian ministry. They both dressed their children the same, they both decided to homeschool their expansive family, and they both strongly believed in bringing as many children as possible into the world.
Michelle Duggar and Kelly Jo Bates, the respective matriarchs of their families, have both birthed 19 children. Kelly Jo has had 19 single pregnancies, while Michelle has added to her family with 15 single pregnancies and two sets of twins. The youngest child in the Bates family was born in February 2012, while the Duggar family last added to their clan in December 2009.
Now they seem to be competing in marriages and grandchildren. While the families have long insisted they are great friends, some fans believe there is a level of competition that exists between the families, especially now that the kids are marrying and adding grandchildren to the headcount.
