‘The Batman’: All the Supervillains (and the Actors) Set to Appear

Matt Reeves’ The Batman is shaping up to be one of DC’s most highly-anticipated films to date. Featuring former Twilight heartthrob turned Indie star Robert Pattinson as Batman and Big Little Lies star Zoë Kravits as Catwoman, the film is already pulling together quite the impressive cast. Not to mention, the incomparable — and jarring in almost every role — Paul Dano will play the Riddler.

The Batman, unlike previous forays into Bruce Wayne’s life, will focus on the hero’s proclivity for detection, as he tries to solve a crime in Gotham City. This is not to say that the film will be actionless, but rather, the superhero spectacle side of things may take a backseat to the mystery at the center of the story. So, how many Gotham City baddies will be at the center of this mystery?

We already know that Catwoman and the Riddler will appear; however, this is not the full story. While other villains have yet to be cast in the film, that does not mean they will not rear their ugly heads.

All the iconic Gotham bad guys likely to appear in ‘The Batman’

The Caped Crusader will swing back into Gotham — all these years later — to discover, once again, that the city isn’t meant for the faint of heart. According to We Got This Covered, Penguin is a sure bet for The Batman, as Jonah Hill was allegedly in talks to play the part; however, many believe the actor walked away to avoid future typecasting. It has been reported that he wanted to play the Riddler, which went to Dano. However, Penguin isn’t the only villain set to appear who has yet to be cast.

We Got This Covered has heard that Poison Ivy, Bane, Firefly, Scarecrow, and Two-Face, are all set to appear in the film as well. If all the villains said to appear actually wind up in the film, Batman will face off against several of his most iconic foes in a single film.

It will be interesting to see how the writers handle such an array of characters — giving each one adequate screen-time without taking the focus away from Pattinson’s Batman. However, one question remains: who will play all of these villains?

Who will play Scarecrow, Bane, Two-Face, Firefly, and Poison Ivy in ‘The Batman?’

If all the above villains actually appear in the film, it is likely that Warner Bros. will try to attract some A-list talent for all of the main roles. We Got This Covered recently reported that Warner Bros. is eyeing Matthew McCoughaney for Two-Face / Harvey Dent (according to the same sources who knew that Green Lantern was in development before the news was officially announced).

It has also been rumored that Rihanna will play Poison Ivy; however, this seems more like a fan desire than an actual casting choice at this point in time. Reeves is apparently looking at Toby Kebbell for Scarecrow and Theo Rossi for Bane. Theo Rossi is known for starring in Netflix’s Luke Cage and Sons of Anarchy, while Kebbell starred in Warcraft and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Firefly casting rumors remain quite slim at this time. In the end, whoever winds up joining the party, Pattinson will have his hands full.
